Games, games and more games!

We were just 3, as Haley and Marion decided they preferred male appendages to gaming! We let Richard choose the first game, and predictably he asked for RoboRally – and for once Sami agreed, so we pulled it out, rolling Pit Maze as the map. It was a surprisingly quiet game, especially given the number of pits around. I did get Howitzered in to a pit, but still managed to win with my other robot. Sami just touched checkpoint 2 the turn after I won.
I chose Shipyard next, as Richard wanted something heavy, and it’s always one of my favourites. Richard went for sails, but made a slight mis-calculation as he forgot how fast his boat was going, and had to hurriedly back-track his last turn to get another canal to sail on! Sami meanwhile went for military stuff, while I went for engineers and just one large ship with them all on, and an employee contract as my second one – slightly hampered by Richard also going for contracts – but it managed to get me enough to win.
Next came Diamonds Club, which at one point was being played a lot, but hasn’t come out for a while. Sami got far too many gems each round for his own good, and cleaned up, while Richard and I managed to tie for second – me with animals, and him with forests.
Sami suggested Dorn next, as Richard likes that. We rolled for dungeon master, and it chose Richard – he was a little unsure about doing it, but decided to give it a go. Sadly he didn’t really have enough experience in how to play it, and had trouble keeping his monsters alive. I went artefact collecting, while Sami kebab skewered and shot all the monsters coming his way, and we quite easily got our three artifacts into the central chamber to open the gate and kill Zorkal.
After that it was twenty to midnight, so we went for fillers. Richard asked for Tension again, so we played a pair of that – it’s a great speed game given it’s age – and it was a bit more even this time!! After that we played two games of Halli Galli to finish the evening.
