Game night. The night of the week that helps the work week go by quicker. I guess I could go on with poetry and such, but bah. Onto the night itsself.
Timm, Chris and I sat down to play something short as Jeff was coming shortly, so we broke out Alea Iacta Est. Another fine game from the alea series (medium box). It's a dice game akin to Kingsburg (you roll and place dice to get something) but more confrontational. You directly battle with the others to get first pick, a card, etc. I like the game and the more, the better. Chris, Timm and I played a half game (I won with 19, Chris 17 and Timm 13) when Jeff arrived. We left it set up and played with four. This time Timm had 46, Chris 45, I had 42 and Jeff 40. Once you get the mechanics down, the game should breeze by. Light, but with choices.
After this game, Chris grabbed Attika. I really liked the game with two and was curious to play with four. Well, with four, I enjoyed it as well. With four, table talk was added to block this person or that person. The push your luck aspect was intensified. Timm ultimately connected two temples after a pretty quick game. I thought it was cool with four and would play again with that number. Not sure how three would go but I imagine it would be fine, as well.
We then pulled out a standby for the four of us, Stone Age. We all know how to play and setup was fairly quick. I threatened Chris I wasn't going to write about this. Chris utterly destroyed the rest of us this time. He had a ton of huts. I know I struggled and even had to drop back after starving my people. I thought it might be closer with Timm and Jeff, but they didn't get many cards at all. Not a good game for anyone but Chris. Chris scored 147, Timm was in second with 76, I had 69 and Jeff had 66. Brutal.
Talked about having to play another game of Civilization sooner than later.
