Christmas Eve is a hectic day for the Welborn family. We had to drive to near Athens, Ga. for our Christmas lunch with Melissa's mother and her siblings (about a 75 minute drive). We then had to leave in time to get my daughter to our Church to practice her song for our Christmas Eve service. We then attended said Christmas Eve service. We then left the church and headed about 45 minutes away to my cousin's house to celebrate Christmas with my family. Then back home to bake cookies for Santa and try to get the kids calmed down enough to go to sleep. We did continue the December Challenge with a few games at Melissa's sister's house. My daughter had been wanting to play Wits & Wagers and I thought that would be a good game for the family.
Wits & Wagers is a trivia game with a nice twist. The winner is not necessarily the person that gets the most correct answers but the person or team that correctly picks the closest answer from all the ones given. This is my highest rated party game at 8 and this was our 6th recorded play on BGG.
We had a combination of solo players and teams. Melissa and myself played solo, along with her sister and our oldest niece. Daughter teamed up with our youngest niece and my son teamed with his grandmother. So 3 generations were playing. The game was easy to teach and everyone quickly got the hang of it. I was too busy making sure everyone was understanding the game to take any notes, but the game stayed reasonably close until the end.
Final Scores: Larry 30, Grandmother and Son 27, Sister 18, Melissa 15, Daughter and Niece 10, Niece 10.
The game was a hit and everyone immediately wanted to play again. Only two of us got the first question correct. Melissa then said I was rude as I knew the answer to the 2nd question and bet all of my chips on it, which allowed me to pull for away and win the game by about 50 points.
We then had time for one game of Call My Bluff, which my son won without losing any dice. We would have probably played both games again but it was time to leave.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to all my readers.
