Santa came and then there was this thing called New Year's Game Night.

Finally Christmas came and I had time to just relax and spend a lot of time with my family.
Me and my fiancé started our vacation on the 23rd by going to my parents' house. We packed a few games with us, even though I was sure Santa would bring a few also.

When we had unpacked our stuff we immediately took out Ticket to Ride as our first pre-Christmas Eve game. It was the first time my niece played TTR and I was happy to see that she liked it even though my fiancé was quite brutal destroying my niece's routes.

The next day, on Christmas Eve, we played TTR again before my other sister would join us with her family. She hates boardgames so no gaming after he arrived.

In Finland we open our gifts on the 24rd. Apparently I had been very nice, 'cause Santa brought me A la carte + A la Carte: Dessert. My fiancé got Ticket to Ride: Europe with Ticket to Ride: Europa 1912 and Mystery Express. Oh, and Callisto from my nieces. We didn't have time to play them before the Boxing day.

Santa also brought us a gift certificate to our FLGS which we used to get Shadows over Camelot . We also bought Coney Island, Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 1 - Team Asia & Legendary Asia and 7 Wonders: Leaders that day. Oh, and Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries

On the New Year's Eve we had our annual game night We played Elder Sign x2, Ticket to ride: Team Asia, 7 wonders, A la carte and Dixit Odyssey.
The next day we played Lord of the Rings and another game of Elder sign and 7 wonders with the leaders for the first time.

Team Asia was fun but most of us seemed to like regular TTR better. The same thing was with 7 Wonders. My brother-in-law thought that some of the leaders were too powerful and the B side of Rome was way too powerful. We'll have to play the leaders a bit more to see if it is a good expansion or not.

My sister didn't enjoy Elder Sign, beuse she thought it lasted too long(she likes games that last about 15-30 mins max.) but the rest of us did enjoy it. We lost our first game due to some rules incoherence but I think we got them cleared and had no problems in the second game. Which we won. My 12 years old niece thought that it was a blast, since she was extremely lucky with her dice rolls. Except for the one time she rolled 5 terrors when she wasn't supposed to get any.

Lord of the rings was sort of blah for me. I used to love it, but now after 10 years, I'm not so keen on playing it. And besides, we lost. sauron

Now let's see what 2012 has in store for us.
