Bobby's Games

I will be posting monthly recaps of my gaming which I have been doing in GeekLists. I'll also be commenting on games on occasion, though I can tell you that I will be behind the curve because I just don't get to play the new games as soon as some people do.

As I already posted, Web of Power was a good choice last week because there were just three of us at the store.

This week, I am going to go with Wolfgang Kramer & Michael Kiesling's That's Life, which was a surprise nominee for the Spiel des Jahres in 2005, at least from the U.S. point of view. It'll play up to six players, though I recall it being better with four.

It is a fun roll and move game where you try to set yourself up to collect points while leaving the negative points to your opponents. If one of your pieces is the last to leave a tile, you "win" the tile and the effects which come with it at the end of the game.

It is reminiscent of Reiner Knizia's Tutankhamen, and the less-famous Big Points, both of which also have you build a line of pieces which the players move their pieces on and collect.

I also have both Verflixxt Nochmal! and Verflixxt hoch²!, which are the imported expansions to the game. I did play the first one, once, but never have played the second one. I hope to have the time to read the rules for the expansions sometime this week so getting them mixed in will be easier.

Also packed in my bag 'o games this week will likely be:

Finca
Hawaii
Kingdom Builder
Louis XIV
San Juan
Tanto Cuore
Thunderstone
Vikings
