Multiplayer Update for Imperial Coming
Aslak of Javelin Apps has posted to the BGG forums that he's just shipped the first version of his Imperial app with online multiplayer to beta testers. We're not expecting an official update soon, but we're certainly glad to see forward progress.
Magic the Gathering: Duel of the Planeswalkers 2013 Coming in Summer 2012
A number of sites have reported that Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that Magic the Gathering: Duel of the Planeswalkers will be coming in Summer 2012 alongside the 2013 Core Set of playing cards, which will be featured in the game as well. Director of Digital Games for Magic: The Gathering Worth Wollpert mentioned iPad iOS, but did not address iPhone.
BattleCON To Release End of April
Brad at Level 99 Games dropped in to let us know that they have an updated video showing the progress made on their iOS implementation of BattleCON, a head to head card game based loosely on the mechanics of a 2d fighting game. They are aiming for a release for iOS Universal at the end of the month. The app will feature online play via Game Center, local AI play, and two brand new characters that are not included in the boxed game. You can learn more at Level 99's website.
Codito Adjusts Release Date for A Brief History of the World
Codito has adjusted the estimate release date for the iOS implementation of A Brief History of the Worldto June 2012.
Hero Mages Released
D20 Studios has released a turn-based tactical strategy fantasy app named Hero Mages. The developer describes it as combining RPGs with competitive and cooperative cross-platform multiplayer gameplay while also blending the elements of tabletop miniatures and collectible card games. Apparently the app supports "free for all", team, and cooperative games with up to 8 players at once. Gameplay is described as being played from a top-down perspective allowing the player visibility over the battlefield. Each player commands a party of three fantasy heroes. Equipped with a set of dice and a hand of cards representing magical spells, players take turns commanding their party of heroes. We've not played it yet, but it sounds maybe too promising. The app is for iOS Universal and priced at $2.99. You can check it out on the App Store.
Hearts Tournament Released
Trivial Technology has released a multiplayer Hearts app named Hearts Tournament. The app features Retina display, Game Center turn-based multiplayer with async up to 30 games at once, solo play vs three levels of AI, and more. This app is for iOS Universal and priced at $0.99. Battle Fleet Updated
Capital J Media has updated its turn-based WW2 naval strategy app to version 1.2. This major update includes new campaigns and missions, a new turret, new carriers, adjusted turret balance, auto-screen rotation for both portrait and landscape, and more. Capital J promises iPad 3 support is coming in next version. Check out all the details on the App Store.
Operation: Eradicate Updated
Skejo Studios has updated Operation: Eradicate to version 1.1.2. The update for this Pandemic-inspired app includes a better Multiplayer Setup Screen, updated text clarity and other fixes. Skejo also reports that another major update with special resources and power ups is coming soon. Check out the details on the App Store.
Words with Friends Updated
The mighty Zynga has updated Words With Friends to version 4.12.1. The update includes recommended friends, improved integration with their player feedback system, bug fixes and performance improvements. And to prove they don't mince words they've come out said in plain english where they'll draw the line for iOS version support by simply stating that they have removed support for iOS versions 3.3 and below. Say what you want about device support or Zynga, but we appreciate the honesty. You can check out the details on the App Store.
Speed Words Updated
Jeff Ward has updated Speed Words, the fast-paced anagram cross-word-style app, to version 1.2.519. The update now includes loggin in with Facebook to play friends online in real-time, showing scores during gameplay and points-per-minute in results. Frantic Frankfurt Updated
Kronberger Spiele has updated Frantic Frankfurt to version 1.3.0. The update to the card game app with just two "brain-freezing" rules includes new iPad support, reduced ads, OpenFeint removal, reduced app size, and new music. Additionally Kronberger has set the minimum iOS version to 4.3 in preparation for the coming multiplayer update. You can check out all the details on the App Store.
Assassin's Creed Recollection Updated
Ubisoft has updated Assassin's Creed Recollection to version 1.9.10. The update includes the arrival of the Marketplace where you can now sell your extra Memories and get the missing Memories for your best Sequences. Also added are a news pop-up, new exclusive AC3 artwork, new Memories are tagged in your Database and more. Check out the details on the App Store.
Magic: The Gathering Toolbox Updated
We were going to let you know that Wizards of the Coast had updated Magic: The Gathering Toolbox to version 1.20, but we currently cannot find the app on the App store and we are see messages that it was removed. The update was supposed to have included a number of small fixes, efficiency and usability improvements, a reduction in interface lag in Card Search, fixes to errors in display of various split and flip cards, a layout modification to the Life Tracker, and a number of other fixes.
