In Wiz-War, wizards wage no-spells-barred magical duels deep in an underground labyrinth. This classic board game of magical mayhem for 2-4 players, created by Tom Jolly in 1983, pits players' wizards against each other in a stupendous struggle for magical mastery. Win by stealing other wizards' treasures and hauling them back to your base, or just score points by blasting the other wizards. The last wizard standing always wins.
Staying true to the spirit of the game that has entertained players for years, as well inspiring an entire genre of games, this 2011 edition of Wiz-War caters to the imagination and the funny bone. Casting an enriched array of spells, your wizards race through an underground maze, avoiding fireballs, werewolves, and psychic storms. Subtle game enhancements by Kevin Wilson and Tom Jolly promote faster play and clarify card effects.
(This entry is separate from Wiz-War based on reports from the designer that the new edition has expanded components and significant rules changes; it's also easier to merge two games that are the same than split two games in one listing that turn out to be different.)
SIR = Summary of Important Rules
Two page summary of the most important rules to freshen up your memory that you can't forget to play this game.
The amount of rules and their complexity adds another page.
I decided to organize my cards by School of magic in deck boxes and include the appropriate counters for the school in each box for easier set up. The attached file displays which counters go into which box to speed up storage as well. I hope it helps someone else out there!
Here goes a breakdown of how many of which type of cards each school has. Includes schools from both the base game and Malefic Curses.
This is both a breakdown by spell type (neutral, attack etc.) and by tags (Creation, Fire, etc.).
I did this out of personal interest, maybe it's of interest to somebody else as well.
After seeing this homemade panel here,
I thought I'd try my hand at making one, and get it to match the boards.
Since a side is 9.5", there are two pages. One is it on a 10" square. The other is it on letter sized paper in two pieces.
VERSION 3.0 UPDATE: Removed "Creation" under the Special Card Trait rules, and placed a blanket reminder that spells cannot create objects in the Home Base Square or an occupied space (per the rules on pg 14). Added Random Energy under the Energy type card.
