Description Edit | History

This game is a remake of the 1984 classic that was part of Milton Bradley's Gamemaster Series. In this game you are one of many Roman generals vying for power in Imperial Rome, employing legions, cavalry, and catapults to reach your objectives.

This version of the game has two sets of rules, one set similar to the original version (except that it has fixed the broken catapult rules) and a new set of rules based on Martin Wallace's Struggle of Empires.

1 Chaos in Rome
This is a mod for CotE 2 where players will need to manage their respecitive levels of chaos (or Civil unrest), much more closely. There are a few tweaks to the rules to ensure Bread and circus sees more action and that it is not possible to hoard on senate votes. Discussed in the Chaos in Rome thread and for use with the Civil Unrest Board file.

2 Civil Unrest Board
Updated version of the Civil Unrest Track, to be used with the Chaos in Rome mod. We have changed the order of the effects, and sliglthy modified them to ensure they do not slow down the game.

0 Inventory List
Here is a complete and detailed inventory list of everything that comes with "Conquest of the Empire" from Eagle Games. I created this list to correct two errors (noted in the inventory) and also to make available a detailed inventory list for players who buy used copies of the game and want to check to see if they have all the game components.

2 FAQ for both CotE1 and CotE2
This particular FAQ is a collection of all the "official" Q&A I was able to assemble from several official sources - including e-mail and forum responses from the game designer and/or Eagle Games. I would like to point out that some of the official answers to the questions in this file contradict what some gaming forums and/or groups have documented. This official FAQ also contradicts some unofficial frequently asked questions as well as at least one unofficial game summary sheet. I hope this PDF file helps clear up a few things about CotE1&2.

2 Battle Board
In the one game of CotE II I played, which was only a 1 vs. 1, we often found we were crunched for space. This is a printable staging area for battles. Used many captures from Rome Total War as well and numerous other images.

4 Battle Board for CotE II
Besides Italia, now and then other provinces get crowded. Place units on this board(when there is a huge battle)..edit and print to the size that suits you. Place the involved units on the appropriate spaces. Combatants will have a clear picture of what they are up against.

2 Italia Off-set Board for CotE II
In CotE II, Italia tends to get mighty crowded. This is a simple "blow-up" of the province, that when printed full size on a letter size sheet, can be placed at the top of the middle section of the game board, with plenty of room to spare.Players can leave their leaders and/or tokens in the small Italia, while placing their units in one of the quadrants of this map.

1 COTE_II_Play_Aid_v2_A4size
A4 Size - This is the same Player Aide v2 that Joe Donnelly (Sunray11) made, but in PDF format because not everyone's MSword program has the same settings. I adjusted the formatting a little, but other than that I didn't change anything. Just made it into a PDF file for A4 sized paper.

1 "Spreading the map" Crockerdile's variant for CotE II
These are tokens to portray the other "worthless" provinces on the CotE II map. The reverse is in B/W, in order not to mix them up with the original scoring province tokens. Rules: Randomly draw 3 + the number of players (example: draw 6 tokens in a 3 player game)...before the game starts, then place one of the 10 / 5 rectangular pieces in that province. Those provinces will score those points, for the remainder of the game, just like any of the other original "scoring" provinces.
