War! Age of Imperialism is a game of empire building, exploration, economic expansion, technological advancement, diplomacy, and tactical battles in the age of Imperialism (1830 - 1900). Players rule one of the great powers of the era as they attempt to carve out an empire. Should they build up their army or economy? Negotiate or attack? Spend on research or a new fort to protect the frontier?

The game comes with 3 levels of rules (basic, standard, advanced), a huge game board and 816 molded plastic figures.

War! Age of Imperialism Tech Cards

I created a set of Tech Cards to track technology advances instead of sticking a figure on the Tech Tree. I don't know why Eagle Games didn't do something like this for the game originally. This set of cards was made using the Magic Set Editor and is simply text on white background. There is a set of card backs as well, but those don't have to be used. Just print 6 copies to have enough for each player.

Variant Ruleset for WAoI

I felt like there was a good game in here, and kept tinkering until I found it. These are a complete rewrite of the rules for the game, organized in a way that makes sense to me. Some of the major differences from the rules as written include spheres of influence, revamped exploration/diplomacy rules, and a new "bucket 'o dice" land combat system. Some of the more quirky or complex new or modified rules are in a separate optional rules section. This is version 27 of these rules.
