When Darkness Comes is a tile-based board game that combines roleplaying with boardgaming.
The first core set, called The Awakening, deals with the undead (zombies, mummies, vampires, etc). The objective of the game will depend on the scenario. Some may include finding and defeating a big bad guy, finding a certain object, defusing a bomb, etc. The characters (pre-generated or created) have 7 attributes with specialized skills. That will determine the amount of dice rolled for a skill check. The mechanic for skill checks is a poker variation instead of using straight high roll. Players try to get 6 high, one pair, 3 straight, 3 of a kind, 4 straight, etc.

"The Awakening" is a modern day horror setting featuring all forms of undead nastiness. The game contains complete rules for both regular and game master run play, 6 complete scenarios, a GM run campaign, 15 map tiles, six character cards, counters, dice and features six specially designed pewter character figures for use with the base set.
The scenarios are written by some of today's top writers including: Matt Forbeck, Hal Mangold and Patrick Kapera.
Future expansions will contain additional scenarios by well-known writers, rules additions and alternatives, counters, additional minis and an ever-changing arsenal of evil.
Combined rules re-edited for additional clarity. Minor corrections made, new font, bold & italics used where needed for subject headers & examples of play, table of contents added & numerous other "minor" tweaks made to provide a (hopefully) clearer, more accessible & user friendly document.
