Description Edit | History

Puzzle Strike: Bag of Chips is all that and a bag of chips!

Puzzle Strike is a card game played with cardboard chips instead of cards that simulates a puzzle video game called puzzle fighter that, in-turn, simulates the fighting game street fighter that is emulated in puzzle fighter

If you don’t understand any of that, that’s ok! Puzzle Strike is a complete game in a box that has the fun of a customizable card game without the marketing scheme of selling you parts of the game in random packs. You build your deck *as* you play the game. Every game is different because the bank starts with a different set of chips each game. Also, there are 10 characters to choose from, each with different gameplay. Between all that, there are over 411 MILLION starting conditions in a 4-player game.

A built-in comeback mechanic means that when you're on the edge of losing, you're also able to do even more combos than usual.

Shuffling cards takes too long and is boring, so in Puzzle Strike you just put your cardboard tokens in a bag and shake them up to shuffle! Plus, it’s pretty ballin’ to play a game with chips. Play it on your yacht, impress potential mates, etc.

Though the game is fun even if you're terrible at it, it's also balanced for high level play by veteran asymmetric game balancer David Sirlin (Street Fighter HD Remix, Puzzle Fighter HD Remix, Kongai, Yomi, and Flash Duel.)

Puzzle Strike contains:

 • Almost 350 cardboard chips
 • 4 cloth bags
 • 8-page full color rulebook
 • Colorful box with inside designed to separate the chips by type, for storage

0 Chip Randomiser Android App (1.1)
This is chip randomiser app I created using the MIT App Inventor program. Download it to an android phone and install (you'll need to enable third-party apps). It selects 10 random puzzle chips from the complete (third edition) set. It's fairly basic, but it allows you to select between base set, shadows expansion and/or promo chips. Also, the 'Balance chip values' option selects 3 low values, 4 medium, and 3 high value chips, in case you want to ensure a balanced bank. Any feedback welcome! (previously posted in the third edition forums)

8 Puzzle Strike - Trap Tokens
Here is my take on the "missing" PS Trap tokens. Basically, when a stack is trapped, you place the token IN or UNDER the stack so that the TRAPPED! text is visible. This makes marking a stack easier without having to cover up the top chip on the stack. Here's a simulation of how these work: Enjoy! ^_^

6 Puzzle Strike PlayMat - Character Select
Another Puzzle Strike playmat, this time done in the style of Puzzle Fighter's character select screen. Same specs as before: Will fit on Letter (8.5"x11") size paper and most custom mousepads. Finished size is 9.25" x 7.75" (9.5" x 8" including .125" bleed). Enjoy ^_^

11 Puzzle Strike Chip Screen and Quick Reference guide - v.1
My humble attempt at a chip screen for those that like to lay their chips on the table while playing. Top is the front of the screen. With the bottom I tried my hand at a "Quick Reference" guide for the inside of the screen or it can be printed by itself for all use during play. Try it out and leave feedback for future revisions. Layout is for 11" x 17" paper. Enjoy ^_^

12 Puzzle Strike Play Mat - Full Cast-in-1 version

DeGrey and Grave, why so serious? =P Same specs as before: Will fit on Letter (8.5"x11") size paper and most custom mousepads. Finished size is 9.25" x 7.75" (9.5" x 8" including .125" bleed). Enjoy ^_^

3 Puzzle Strike - "Square gem pile" player mats and custom gems.
This file contains both an 8.5x11 and 10x10 inch player mat. The mats have an area for the "square" gems (gem pile), discard pile, ongoing chips and a "crash zone". The 10x10 mat has a 1/8 inch bleed. There are two different groups of pages for the gems, the "General_Page_#" and "SQ_PAGE_#". One set of the "General_Page_#" or "SQ_PAGE_#" should be enough for one player. The difference between the "General_Page_#" and "SQ_PAGE_#" is that the "SQ_PAGE_#" provides a gem in each orientation to display the number correctly.

15 Puzzle Strike Puzzle Chip insert strips
My biggest problem setting up the game is finding the correct puzzle chips from the insert. I made this to help. It is a pdf (legal size paper) with the names of the puzzle chips (in alphabetical order) and the cost of the chips. Simply cut each strip then tape them to the underside of the clear plastic insert and your puzzle chip slots will be easy to find!

12 Puzzle Strike: 8.5x11 and 10x10 inch Player Mats
UPDATE: This file contains two different sized mats, an 8.5x11 and a 10x10 inch mat. Both of the mats contain an area for a gem pile, discard pile, ongoing chips and a "crash zone". Both mats have 4 different backgrounds but the 10x10 mat also has 3 different artworks for the back of the mat. The 10x10 mat also has a 1/8 inch bleed. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me.
