Reiner Knizia’s Decathlon is a series of 10 short dice games with the loose theme of the events of an Olympic Decathlon: 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1500-meter run. The rules are available for free on Knizia's web site. The game is played with eight dice, pen, and paper. In each event, each player rolls a pool of dice, rerolling a limited number of times, and freezing desired rolls. The goal is to obtain the highest score across all the events.
Current World Records - to qualify for a world record, a result must have been achieved in official face-to-face competition, when completing an entire decathlon against other athletes, and not in a solo game or online forum play.
Create your own travel version of Knizia's game of 10 push-your-luck minigames in either a DVD binder or VHS case. Photos of the DVD binder version are in the photos section. My wife and I have played this on many flights and never lost a die. Thanks to franchi for the icons, and great thanks to Dr. Knizia for this gem of a gift he's given us all.
