1844 is an 18xx railroad and stock trading game based on Francis Tresham's 1829. It follows the start of public railway operations in the year 1844 in Switzerland. Many specifics to Swiss railway system development have been implemented in order to resemble history as closely as possible.
The game incorporates 7 private companies, 5 mountain railroads, 5 tunnel operators and a total of 15 railroad corporations.
I felt that my copy of 1844 needed a few extra items to make it easier to play for my group. The attached spreadsheet contains 4 tabs. A tab with a reference for the private companies, a tab with a complete and integrated listing of public companies, A tab with a nice tile manifest and upgrade chart (my favorite), and a tab with a complete phase change chart that has room for the trains along with phase change information. All you need to do is print whichever tab you want to PDF.
Here's a list ofthe rules in 1844 Switzerland that differ from the "usual 18xx fare"(meaning 1830 + when you build, the track must be runnable by the company). This is not a substitute of the manual, just a small teaching aid or quick summary of the more specific rules that usually vary from one 18xx to another. Since I wrote this before I even got to play the game, there might be some mistakes or omissions. Please warn me of any, and I'll correct them.
