Description Edit | History

From Steve Firchow's website:

I was born on June 30th, 1966 in Lae, New Guinea, where I lived for 16 years. In 1982 I moved to the United States, finished high school and went to college at Cal State Long Beach. In 1991 I graduated from CSULB with a BFA in Illustration.

I've had the good fortune of collaborating with many premiere artists in the comic industry, working for Marvel, Topcow,DC and others. I've done traditional and digital illustration for Image Comics, Darkhorse Comics, Mattel, Sega,TSR,Wizards of the Coast,Ace Books and many other advertising and publishing agencies.

While continuing as a freelance illustrator I began working fulltime in game development in 2002.

I love making art with traditional media(Oil,Acrylic etc) but most of my work now is done in Photoshop and Painter. I've spent countless hours with Maya's texturing tools and have used Right Hemisphere Deeppaint extensively. I've used Maxon Bodypaint, Zbrush and am also very familiar with Unreal and its material/shader editor. I've modeled with Maya and Zbrush but do not claim to be any kind of expert!
I worked on Call of Duty:Finest Hour doing mainly texturing and storyboards and was most recently the art director on Spark Unlimited's first person shooter, 'Legendary'.

In January 09 I will be starting a new phase of my life/career when I move with my wife to Seattle to work as a Senior Artist at BigFish Games.
