Alonzo Chappel

Alonzo Chappel (March 1, 1828 - December 4, 1887) was a New York City-born American artist from Manhattan best known for his American Revolution paintings. He started studying art at the age of 9 and was essentially a professional artist by the age of 12. His father was a tinsmith of Huguenot descent. Chappel died in 1887 in Middle Island, New York.

• His illustration The Battle of Germantown at Chew House in 1777 was used as the cover art for the wargames Germantown and Rebels & Redcoats - Volume I
• His circa 1868 illustration The Boston Massacre was used as cover art for SPI's wargame The American Revolution 1775-1783.
• A version of his painting Battle of Shiloh-Recapture of Artillery by a Portion of General Rousseau's Command was used as cover artwork for the game Bloody April: The Battle of Shiloh, 1862.
• A version of his painting The Battle of Wyoming was used as cover artwork for the game Flames Across the Valley.
