Redmond Askel Simonsen (June 18, 1942 in Manhattan, New York – March 9, 2005 in Garland, Texas) was an American game designer and graphic artist best known for working with wargames at SPI (Simulations Publications, Inc.), where he supervised the release of over 400 games. He was a game graphics innovator and is sometimes even credited with creating the term "game designer". He was also an editor for game magazines Strategy and Tactics, Moves, and Ares.
After SPI went bankrupt, he worked as a computer game consultant and freelance writer for computer magazines. In late 1985, he moved to the Dallas area to market Amiga peripherals.
