Dean Jensen is best known in gaming circles as the designer of the card game, Pickle. Dean has also developed a video game accessory called the Vthumb, taking it from concept to retail in Denver area gaming stores. Dean has been playing Pickle for years with friends and family. Having experience with training and procedure writing in his professional world, Dean saw the benefit of creating a way to better teach others the game. Because the rankings of the cards are unusual, the main focus was making it easier for new players to understand the ranking. It took some time, but Dean finally found an artist that could create a variety of characters based on a pickle in a manner that was light heated and visually appealing. The project came to fruition in November 2010 when the initial deluxe version of Pickle received limited release in the US. In April and May 2012, he made attempts to finance a wider distribution publication of the game via Kickstarter, but both projects fell short of their goal. Undeterred, he subsequently made a third attempt, simplifying the project and succeeding in August 2012 with the publication of a Custom Deck for the game, which was delivered in September 2012. Passionate about the viability of the game and anxious to share it will the broader gaming community, he plans a full blown rerelease of the Deluxe Pickle Set in Fall 2012 through Kickstarter. He currently resides in Thornton, CO with his live-in super high maintenance supermodel girlfriend and her 2 cats, and he makes a heck of a home made pizza.
