Games for the World is a UK based company created by long-time board games player, Shaun Derrick. Currently the only game published by GftW is The World Cup Game, a unique football (soccer) themed game allowing players to recreate any World Cup tournament from the past.
Being a micro-business, new titles will be slow to appear. However, at least one other game has already been released:
'The World Cup Card Game - 2010 edition' A card game to play through the 2010 World Cup tournament.
Games for the World has closed for business and the development of these three games has almost come to a stop. However, given the motivation to begin designing again, Shaun may resurrect the development.
'Imperialism - the zenith of Empire' which will recreate the pre-WWI period of world politics, colonialism and tension. A kind of cross between Pax Britannica and the GMT card driven war games.
'Tribes & Kingdoms' recreates the history of medieval Spain from the end of the Roman period to the creation of modern Spain in the 15th century.
'The Rugby World Cup Game' is a kind of sequel to the World Cup football (soccer) game compendium. Each game will cover a complete Rugby World Cup tournament. Prototype due before the end of 2009. This design was halted by the threat of leagl action by the controlling body of the Rugby World Cup if it was published.
A very different approach taken by FIFA who cared little about the production of a limited run board game.
