BANDU is the best version of this fantastic game. It's a mean-spirited little challenge. One of my absolute favorites.

Sac de Noir set.

Update: Added Bandu to the mix. Sac de Noir didn't have starting blocks to build with.

The perfect dexterity game. Several hundred plays in less than a year speaks for itself, really! Make sure you get Bausack rather than Sac Noir - the latter has much lower quality pieces.

Own both Bandu and Bausack, but I actually prefer Bandu for the simple reason that there are less pieces and options in Bandu. I feel it is better balanced that way. It's my favorite dexterity game so far, and I love to see "impossible" towers being built by everyone!

It's the bidding stones that really make this one - putting some actual "game" in the phrase "dexterity game."

This from my post on funagain:

I've played Bausack which is essentially the same game as Bausack: Sac Noir, but the Sac Noir edition has extra pieces. I really enjoy this game for a few reasons:

People instantly 'get' the game. Don't let your tower topple is the general gist of it.
Deeper strategy than at first appearance.
There is an element of hope for almost every play. For example, I have landed and seen pieces landed on towers that I thought were for sure going to topple. It is at that moment - after you land it - when you feel a major rush of fun.
The game generally makes you root for everyone. I play a lot of games and am pretty competitive, however I find myself rooting for the guy I just gave an evil piece to.
I've played Villa Paletti and Jenga. This game takes the cake for build/stacking type games. I'm anxious to try out more like this.

Just always a blast, and most everyone enjoys it. My only complaint is the lack of uniform "bases" to choose from, which I think the American version of the game actually fixed, but at the expense of having a much less diverse set of pieces. Actually one more complaint: the game costs WAY too much money.

Own Sac Noir edition. Prefer variant bidding with 10 beans for each player. Either bid to 'not take' and every bid loses whatever they bid or bid 'to take'. Starting bids can be zero. Some pretty amazing structures can be built.

This is the best dexterity/stacking game out there. The use/refuse auctions are a clever element which give this game personality and the alternate rule sets add plenty of variety.

Sac Noir version. This is an excellent party game, as there are a number of variations that keep things fresh. In addition the crazy pieces are visually interesting, and it's fun to see what sort of gravitational acrobatics players will attempt.

My favorite dexterity gameby a fair margin.

There's just nothing not to love about this game... if it can be called just one game. It can be played many different ways and is very accessible to players of all ages and skills. My 7 year old daughter beats me as often as not, compared to candyland... yeah, I know what I'd rather be playing.

But my adult buds love the game as well, it's got universal appeal. I suspect it's dinged here often for price... but I'm rating the game here, and I think it's worth it.

Unique Component - 98 oddly shaped wooden pieces.

Unique Mechanic - Trying to stack some of those pieces is rough.

Quick Thoughts - Excellent dexterity game.

This is a great game. I put this just behind Crokinole as the best dexterity game. Playing with the auction variant is crazy stupid fun and very hard.

I actually have Sac Noir.
