A great game made from a great game!! This focuses on the Pacific theater of WW2. Japan's easiest route to victory is to take India, and it seems increasingly as though this might be easier than expected.....Japanese player keeps winning.

Better than its little brother Europe, but not as good as "Big Mama" A&A. Had a great time playing it. Great for beginners. Strategy needs advice in this game, so seek it.

I'm not a big fan of the original A & A game (I guess it's because I played AH's hex & counter global WWII games--MANY of them!), but this one is, by far, the best! It's as if someone was inspired by AH's classic FLAT TOP & made FLAT TOP LITE--easier to learn & not as long to play. A great simulation of the war in the Pacific.

I got this recently and have played 3 times (3 Axis wins) and as with Europe I like the new pieces and rules; another interesting puzzle in the series to solve and as with Europe I haven't had a decent crack at yet same comments as Axis & Allies apply in terms of a tense struggle, strategy and the downsides. My favourite at the moment due to least play time with this one and also because of the vast oceans and fleets involved in this game which appeals to me.

Dynamic fun game. Played twice - Japan lost both times but it was very interesting. Japan can flirt with taking India or Sydney but the CAP rules allow delay invasion forces for turns. Japan has conceded both games by turn four.

As a Japan A&A player, how could I not love this game. Adds what the original game falls short with. As good as you can get and still be A&A.

This game is a blast , after you get past the tedious first turn (Japanese Surprise attack). Emphasizes what all other A&A games lack, SUBSTANTIAL NAVAL COMBAT.

The absolute best AA game of the series. Every game we have played has been an intense nail-biting experience. I do not agree with some that this game is in any way "broken" in favor of the Japanese - we have seen both sides win their fair share. If there is one AA game to get, this is it.

Beyond the plays I've logged here at BGG, I estimate I've played this ~5 times prior to my logging of plays.

This one is a toughie. I think it is on par with Axis and Allies (at least). There are so many opening strategies that it is not funny and each of them seem to work well.

Definitely my favourite A&A spin-off. I love the wide open board and broad strategic possibilities. I'd say it's slanted in Japan's favour, but it's still a fun game for either side. Maybe the only A&A game where I genuinely enjoy playing any position.

Perhaps the best game from the A&A series, BUT only with house rules, as the game is highly in favor of Japan. A particular opening move for Japan (which is far too strong) should be forbidden at least.

Another fine Axis & Allies game. This game is set up with a tight time table for victory and shares many parallels potentially to the actual war in the Pacific. It's short and sweet - playable in an evening. Like the real war, there is the potential for lots of combat and the game is highly enjoyable.

With some tweaking to the victory conditions it's excellent. Worth playing once per year (around Pearl Harbour time).

So far I really like this version of A&A, but I've only played a few times. Maybe in the future I'll end up lowering my rating. I like the emphasis on naval combat and Island hopping. I think the more experienced players should probably play the Japanese. They have much to do, and a huge 1st turn.

I think that this is strictly a two-player game. Granted, I like it much more than I do the full game or the Europe game. Its shorter, more action packed and has some great mechanics that make it easy for the US to lose.

This is also a nice follow-up of Axis and Allies. There is a lot of space to outmanoeuvre your opponent(s). If you're playing the Japanese get some Alcaseltzer, you'll need it. Your opening move will keep you busy. The choises, the choises....

The best of the A&A games, in part because it was my favourite theatre of the war to read about, in part due to the game play. Only flaw in my mind: the Japanese VP rules. I've been tinkering trying to find a good balance since I started playing.

This game is pretty much dominated by naval action: the different naval units, supporting fighters and bombers and "convoy route" rules allow for a wide variety of strategies. The land combat however is pretty bland - fortunately there's plenty of challenge in getting your troops to the right place at the right time. The combat resolution system is simple but cool, making this a pretty abstract and "lightweight" but still quite charming and accessible game.

The original Axis and Allies was my first "real" game, and it thus retains sentimental value--but "Pacific" is more challenging and satisfying. Still true enough to the old classic, and easy enough to pick up, but enough changes to keep me interested. If you liked the original, you'll probalby like this one--if you hated the original, I wouldn't go into this one with very high expecations.
