Very fast and fun. Yet has enough depth to bring you back for more. The theme is loosely pasted on with old crusty Elmer's glue, but is still appealing.

A great deal of play for such a short game. Heavy on counting and tactics, with enough luck in card draw to leave room in the game for those less experienced. Also, a great filler for more serious gaming groups.

Should be rated higher than Web of Power, as it's almost the same game, but improved. (actually rated .3 lower as of this writing?)

Very comfortable length. Thoughtful, but not overly so. Multiple approaches to victory may cause occasional AP (Analysis Paralysis). Upgraded to a 10 after additional plays and the release of the expansion.

Abstract, with a touch of luck, a lot of strategy and a short playtime. An almost perfect game, in my opinion.

Impressive depth considering the ruleset, the size of the board, and the length of the game. China is categorized as an area-control game, but there are actually TWO area-control games going on (provinces and alliances), and they require different strategies. Placing a lone house in a province that you don't win will get you some easy points, but placing a lone emissary in an alliance that you don't win just gives the winner more points. China somehow feels like a light game and a heavy game at the same time.

What a great game. It possesses incredibly simple mechanics, but institutes a very clever scoring system that rewards flexible players who can adapt their overall strategy to whats going on around them. And best of all? It does it in right around 45 minutes. I've played primarily with 4 and 5 players, and a few with 3. I have heard 3 player is far superior to the 4 and 5 player games and will have to make an effort to play it more often with 3. My favorite game to date (9/07).

The rules changes makes for an even better game than Web of Power, but the map is not as interesting.

A reworking of my favorite game, Web of Power. I'll play this anytime, though I like the European setting of WoP better, as I know it. I also enjoy the double scoring in Wop better than the change here where a region only scores once.

That's a Palm Pilot on the left, and a pink iPod mini on the right. Yes, I've been doing BGTG that long!

Just as good as Web of Power, as far as I can tell. I slightly prefer the European setting and more muted colors of the original game, but this one gives me chance to absorb some historical Chinese geography. The subtle changes to the rules (fortifications, scoring) are an interesting alternative.
