Another quirky card game that seems like it should be utterly obvious...but it isn't. Note that I appear to think more highly of it than its designer does. Perhaps I should try his "variant" and see if it's really not as good....

This is very similar to Modern Art, but much better. Paparazzo is not as fragile as the Knizia offering and it plays much faster.

Interesting stock game with semi-hidden information. Seems tricky, but maybe that will change with experience. It's possible for one or two players to get pretty lucky and see that 4-5 cards of one type are available. Maybe 4 players should use only 6 of 8 celebrities (instead of 7).

This is a decent little bidding game. I like the two rounds of auction Setting Price/Bidding. Of course I think it is a little tough to predict the true value of anything as the cards in play are of such a small percentage from the deck. Being bid out gives a distict advantage to the moderator getting cards for free. I'm not sure how well that works...

Otherwise an enjoyable bidding game.

A nice auction/stock game with very funny (but not particularly pretty) artwork! Feels a bit like Hab and Gut (share information with neighbor, speculate in stock values, which will fluctuate depending on cards played) but plays faster. I wonder if it would be better if you saw both your neighbors' cards?

Would like to try the multiple-rounds version.

--- Summary ---
Setup: Give each player $15K and 5 cards (play with 8 suits in full game; fewer if less than 5 playing), and place 3 cards in the Central Display face up. Players show their left-hand neighbor their hand. Give Mediator token to random player.

Turn: Mediator either sells a card from their Personal Display to Stink Magazine (unless Stink already has a card of that suit), receiving current value in cash, or puts one of the cards in the Central Display up for sale. If selling, there's first a price-setting round: starting with the player to Mediator's left, once-around, _other_ players bid value (minimum = number of those cards face up anywhere on table). Mediator may then either buy at highest price, or pass; if passes, others in turn order may buy at that price or pass (but the person who bid that price _must_ buy it). If a non-Mediator buys the card, the Mediator earns 50% commission. The card winner then places a card from their hand (if they have any) into the Central Display.

Card values (when sold to Stink, or at end of game) are greater with larger numbers of available pictures (mathematical progression 1, 3, 6, 10, etc.).

Game ends when only one player has cards in hand, or there are no cards in Central Display. Players cash out cards in Personal Displays. If any player has all the cards of any suit on the table, they earn $5K extra per card. The player with the most money wins!

This game has some interesting ideas, but they just didn't seem to come together quite right. Perhaps when played over several rounds, the play will improve, but I'm not sure yet.

Some similarity to Modern Art, except this time players are buying and selling paparazzi photos.

A decent bidding / stock game with a good theme (smearing celebrities) but overall it didn't really have the wow factor. May be worth another try with some of the variants provided by the designers.

Production: Cheap money tokens, and in my four-player game, there wasn't enough to go around. The art on the cards is funny, and the suits are easy-enough to distinguish. Play: A purely speculative game. Almost every card will come into play, which means that for the most part I know at least how much many cards will be worth, and am merely guessing if I think they will be worth more. I think one or two more plays will either result in a breakthrough or complete collapse in fun. (1+1+2) (1 play)

There is certainly a real game in here... it's just not a particularly strategic one. Hint: win an auction right before your turn as mediator, then play a card that no one can afford the opening bid for. You win by default. Repeat.
