I enjoy this game a lot. It is humorous, fun to play, and (gasp) even a bit educational. I think they have done a great job of capturing the ruthlessness that characterized paleontology in the 19th and early 20th century. (I think an expansion using modern day paleontologists would be just as fun.)

This is definitely interesting little card game that teaches some science and the history of paleontology at the turn of the century. There is a fair amount of "take that" card play that can be found (I always enjoy this in my games), and the mechanics are pretty tight. The artwork is really fantastic on both the action cards and the bone cards. Game play doesn't over stay its welcome and makes for a fun little diversion from some of the heavier games. Plus you can make bone jokes the entire time you are playing, and that can get you laid. It certainly did with me! Thank you Bone Wars for getting me laid!

Very fun game, particularly for anyone in science. Every palaeontologist or palaeontology fan should own this game. I love the in-jokes. I only wish there was an expansion with more bone cards.

Played this with fellow geology students during my coastal field camp. Some of us had just taken paleontology the semester before and we had a BLAST. Not a hard game to teach to non-gamers.

Played once; didn't seem terribly well-designed, though the theme and production is nice.

Love the theme but not so much the game. It's pretty random and doesn't involve much strategy.

Thrifted.

I hope some budding young paleontologist digs it up.

Loved the theme, but there were a few holes in the rules.

Great theming, but hard to use cards. Funny & somewhat strategic gameplay for the take-that American genre, but some real flaws in the rules. Overall, a fair game for its genre that could have been great, the difference probably being that it was a first-time publication. [If I liked the genre more, I'd give it a "6".]

My 4 rating might be too low, it's just was a rather simple (yet convoluted) card game that really didn't offer anything that fun and interesting.

A fun enough game, that I have played a few times. However, the game doesn't seem all that balanced and with four players, it was really hard to get anything done, except for the one lucky player.

Maybe it was that we didn't get the rules quite right the first time we played, but it didn't call me back for a second play through. The theme is hilarious, though.

Games with a Mille Bornes-esque "gee I hope I draw one of the cards I need to play" aspect drive me nuts. In a good design there should be something you can do when you get bad cards. This is not a good design.

Pretty common card game. Not bad, not good though. Pretty creative art on the cards and such, but doesn't _really_ get me.

Nice idea for a theme, I could really go for a game about paleontologists hunting for fossils, trying to put them together correctly, and discrediting their colleagues while hogging as much fame as they can. But terrible execution on the design of the cards combined with some rather bad game mechanics totally spoiled this attempt, and I doubt I'll even be convinced to try it again without a major revision. For one thing, you're expected to compare paragraphs of small-print text on separate cards to determine if they are exact matches, from across the table, in order to make game decisions. Symbols would have been a million times better. For another thing, your choices are limited by the few cards you get, a flaw found in many games, but made excruciatingly painful in this one because you can't even begin a skeleton until you find the starter card, and until you do, all the related bone cards you get are completely useless. The power of the cards in the 'controversy phase' makes the game so chaotic there's little point in attempting a strategy. Overall, I'll pass on this one, disappointed.

Thrift and donated. Nice looking cards .... tried to donate to BGG users who had it on their want lists, but no one responded.... might have been old posts. Probably a good game to fill a niche for those with a specific interest, because the trivia looked interesting.

Decent "take that" card game with an interesting theme and nice mechanic of refining the skeletons that goes with it (and provides some scope for advance planning). The cards really need to be twice as big, and the various text tags that describe the bones need to have accompanying icons that you can understand upside down from across the table. Overall I enjoy this, but then I have good eyesight.
