We bought this on ebay, way back, because my wife just loves the elfquest comicsaga and to my surprise this is not bad. The overall look seemed a little 'proto typish' but we enjoyed playing it. When I ever have the time, I'm planning to pimp up the look of this game.

Play tiles to fill in a 7x7 map and wander through it to get to the clue tiles. Once you've visited these 4, you'll know that the remaining destination tile of 5 is the tile you need to get to and declare it as the winning destination tile. Of course accomplishing all this ain't so easy because one player's moving 3 trolls around to engage you in combat and you can't move through them, you must engage if you can't go around. If the troll player wins enough combats, he can win the game himself. So the first part of the game is wandering around the map, the second half is a combat slog (basically 2d6 + remaining strength (max 12 or so), win/lose items afterwards). Which makes for an unbalanced affair, but it's pleasant enough. There's not too many clever things to be done, and the components are second rate (and don't help you get into the theme). But turns are quick and cheers/groans are the order of the day through the combat. Not sure I need to play again, but the tile layout and movement system was neat and I enjoyed exploring it.

Haven't played this too often. Had some warm fuzzy feelings about the genre. The game itself is a little raw, it basically works in a very 80's way. It ends in a bit of a king maker situation with the Troll player deciding which elf to stop (or try to stop). A pity really.

This game gets a bad rap based on the rather lackluster artwork on the board pieces. Also, the game follows the story SO closely that, while nice for fans of the books, may seem odd as a game mechanic to those unfamiliar with the story. I loved this game as a kid and have no problems making it a part of my collection now.

Solid gameplay, but @$$ ugly tiles to play on. Expect to get glaucoma from the color choices.

This game has a huge flaw in that the Trolls can simply sit on the ElfHome and pretty much preclude the Elves ever winning. It's not a fun strategy but I can't see how to beat it with the rules as they are.

My daughter (the ElfQuest fan) proposes to change the rules. She suggests that we randomize the location of the Elfhome so that the Trolls don't know where it is any more than the Elves and so can't block it. Also she thinks that getting a point a turn is too much for the Trolls.

We haven't tried this but she's pretty good with rules and it sounds reasonable.

Annoying little game based on a cool idea that never quite lives up to its potential. Not a lot of fun.

Basically unplayable (and I did try 3 times) game that seems to have been released as a promotion for a cartoon series or movie.

One player is the evil Trolls, the others each control a tribe of elves set on finding their long lost home (or whatever its called). Features hidden tiles/exploration and simple combat system. Bought this years ago but never really played.

I remember we didn't like this very much (when I was in my teens) and it only hit the table a couple of times.

Truly an odd game. Really. It's fun, though. I like that the board changes every time; it's also fun to gang up against my best friend's husband, who almost always plays the troll. Which brings me to an important point: If you can't take being ganged up on, or you are unwilling to gang up on someone, don't play. It's multiple elf tribes against one troll tribe; work together, elves, or don't play!

Got this shrinkwrapped MiB, never used, but due to an apparent packing error the deck of 56 cards that comes with this wasn't in the box. As I am fairly new to owning my own board games (past background is largely PBM and all my past board gaming has been invites to play the games of others), I don't have anything to trade for it. Any help appreciated in how to acquire. Please note I need the cards to the 2ND edition. Thanks!

I bought this for fandom reasons, I am a massive ElfQuest fan. Sadly the game looks pretty shitty. Haven't played it yet, will try to do so soon.

This one does not reside within my game closet, but rather in a box of collectables I have not touched in a couple of decades.
