I only played the basic game once without the Seafarer expansion. Once this was added, there was no going back!!!

Brings more sernarios into play, however adds more time to gameplay which can be bad if you are hurt for time.

A good expansion for a great game. The new scenarios allow for even more variety in the game.

If you like Settlers at all, this is kind of a no-brainer. I wish the Pirate worked a little better, but there are some variants in the Settlers Book that help quite a bit. With the introduction of the "scenario" format, you get more of a mixed bag - some scenarios are more interesting than others - but they're all good at least, and add a new layer of interest and depth to Settlers with virtually no added complexity.

Excellent game. I have owned it and played it intensively for 6 months. So far I have only noticed 2 flaws: the development cards are under used usually and the box's lack of complexity (ie storage racks) results in a usually high set-up time. Therefor I have bought a toolbox with compartements for the peices. Make sure you buy one in which you can fit the hexes, since they are relatively big. The larger peices, such as the frames and the construction costs are best stored in a separate box.
