2008 - One 2-player game so far. Excellent! Fast explained, good match of strategy and luck, easy, light filler. Rating could go down with more players, but I doubt it.

One gripe: The rules do mention a special 2-player rule at the end of the rule sheet (in small print in a box). This is easily missed! A cross-reference to this rule MUST be inserted at the beginning of the rule sheet!

Really nice dice game. Combines luck, strategy and conversation in a nice way. The colors on the dices can not be distinguished very well when playing with dim light.

Nice dicethrowing game, with luck of course, but not annoying. Great filler, can be played in 20 minutes or so.

This is the better version of Yahtzee Free For All (yeah I know they were developed at the same time, and I really like YFFA). The difference here is the set collecting aspect of the game. It gives much more incentive to steal tiles from other players. Plus for some reason it plays quicker than YFFA, although I haven't played this one with the full complement yet. Highly recommended.

An interesting dice-fest that reminds me of Pickomino. I think Pickomino may be better, but the timed vulnerability of captured pieces is an interesting twist that sets this game apart from the Knizia design.

Easy play, just like the rest of the line. A decent game that I think runs a little long for the content. While the mechanics offer plenty of tactical choices, the heart is fundamentally making the best of randomly presented choices. That's all great in a really short filler, but this one lasted its full 30 minutes, and it was dragging after 20. We'll give it some more chances to come out since it was being tried for the first time at the end of a convention and had to contend with some burnout.

A (now) standard capture-and-steal dice game, with a cool scoring mechanism. The 2-player version almost felt a little broken, but the game is still worth more plays.

Funny, it's kinda complicated for an "Easy Play" game.

Update: Traded away. The second play--this time with 4 players--just wasn't more fun.

Yet another roll-the-dice-to-claim-a-tile game. Nice graphics, quick logical turn flow and a subtly complex enough scoring system drags it up from Yahtzee territory. Nice dragons.

Collecting tiles and scoring points by rolling dice has been done before, and better (think Risk Express, Pickomino, etc.) Compared to these games, Drachenwurf is too long, without really offering more depth in return.

Not much here for gamers, but a decent little dice roller/Yahtzee variant for kids and non-gamers. A bit of set-collection, a bit of press-your-luck, a bit of messing with your neighbor. Love the artwork - Michael Menzel - what's not to love?

Ridiculous theme, so stupid. It's not like fantasy lovers are going to be dying to play this game, so why not try something else?

The game itself is moderately entertaining. I have a weird relationship with games like this. You have to go after another player at some point, but it kind of hurts you sometimes to do so. So it's funny (or not) when people get greedy, letting other people do the dirty work. I think I prefer games like Easy Come, Easy Go, because eventually you have to focus on the leader or the game will end. Whereas here it seems detrimental to go after another player if you can pick up stuff for yourself on the cheap.

April 2011: This feels like a number of games we have played in the past, and has elements of Easy Come, Easy Go, Loot, and Ticket to Ride the card game.

I guess the best strategy comes down to not competing with the other players if you can help it, so that they are less likely to come after you. Also, in a 3 player game there is the usual problem of 2 of the players not having much incentive to harm their own position to attack the leader. It tends to be much easier to just do your own thing and hope you can outscore the other guy and hope the other player harms the leader. Overall not my favorite game, but I'd be open to playing it more. Initial rating 6.

Very ligth game in the vein of Pickomino. Therefore the same rating. :-)
Update: Played this again after 3 years in hoping this might be a fun quick filler. But this game bombed in our faces. Just not the right thing with my gaming group. Pickomino kicks the butt of these dragons anytime. I lower my rating!

A pretty decent little dice-rolling filler where your claims on various dragons must withstand a round of dice rolling by the other players before you can bank them. When you bank them, you try forming sets of matching dragons; the bigger the set, the more it's worth! Overall, pretty decent, but not any more so than most other die rollers.

Simple and entertaining. It has some flaws though: to little decisions and a bit to confrontational for my taste. As for a family game of course.

The gameplay flows naturally and apart of these two treats I liked playing Drachewurf. A little. Maybe with some tweaks and expansions...

A game in the vein of Pickomino (Heckmeck) but with cut down "push your luck" factor to make it even more "family friendly". Too luck dependent and extraneous for me. But may be used as a filler or gateway game to introduce non gamers as rules are simple.

An unoriginal, unfun and unthematic filler taking openly inspiration from Pickomino but failing to be a believable alternative to it: often during playing you don’t even know what you are doing besides rolling some dice (which is always fun) and blocking some of them in order to try and catch a golden dragon over a city instead of a red dragon over a desert. Or perhaps the blue dragon over a mountain would be a better choice?
In the end, this is all the game allows.

It's another dice-roller with some press-your-luck and collect mechanics. I just get the sense that your options are quite limited and that attacking others isn't worth it much, leaving you to the luck of the draw in the middle. There are other dice-based games of similar length with much better depth than this one; I found this to lack any compelling decisions.
