One of my favorite race games, not only from the current essen crop, but perhaps of all time. Great marriage of mechanics and theme, and the bits and variable setup make it great.

I enjoy it, but most people I play with don't.

update: finally found some people that enjoy this game and realize the game is long term as racing games should be.

This is one of the more fun racing games I have played. I'm pretty sure that its tactical racing play is rivaled only by Turfmaster.

You have to be extremely flexible when racing your sled in this game. While you may have the cards in hand to make a great move, one of the other players may move into a position that robs you of it, and not only that, may put you into a position that will destroy your sled.

When played with 5 experienced players...the game is excellence racing.

Fantastic game.

This was my favorite technical game during BGG.Con '08. Normally I'm luke warm on most racing games, but the mechanics, tracks and risk in this game made for an outstanding experience. Managing your hand while trying to decide just how fast to enter the corners is just half of it... Within your card plays you must also manage drift (your ability to change lanes. Great game!

One of the best games from the '08 Essen family. It seems to have very general appeal, and does will with nearly every group that I've seen play it (in two months). Good job, Lamont Brothers!

Fantastic game with simple and unique mechanics. Probably my favourite race game. I love it.

Plays quickly, could play with ages about 8+ I reckon, sit back and enjoy the sled ride. A whole pack of fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and nor should you, 'cause you'll ruin it.

Sit back, enjoy the running into the side of the track, limiting your hand size, run up the bum of the sled in front and then clear a path straight through the trees. It's a hoot.

Very good racing game. The course determines the length (space and time) and difficulty of the track. Your hand determines how you can move. Elements of Robo Rally (hand limit and damage causes few cards to be able to be held) and Formula D(e) (grids on track). There are obstacles on the course (ala Mississippi Queen Black Rose) but there are also destructable objects (trees cause damage but are destroyed). There are also speed limit checks that if you go over cause damage. Has a clever movement mechanism (left dog, right dog, and brake). You add your dogs and subtract your brake for movement but if your dogs are not equal you get pulled to one side or the other during your movement.

This is almost the perfect racing game for me. It has enough control, and some ability to look ahead, but not enough to take away the "do you feel lucky?" aspect that any race game must have.

I like this more than Mush! Mush! Snow Tails 2, its successor.

A PERFECT racing game. Equal resources from Ave Cesar plus the movement of Formula De plus a unique engine mechanic. Every single move requires thought and planning. Total thrill.

The theme is really important to the movement mechanic, but is kinda lame. Star Wars pod racing is what this needs to be.

And the fact that increasing the thrust on your right side makes you turn right instead of left is so ridiculously wrong from both a common sense and physics standpoint that we (2 PhDs, 1 Masters, 2 Programmers) all thought it was a misprint. It being intentional should cost this game a point.

Update: Sooo... not one of the five us have actually raced a dog sled though. Turns out the two lines of dogs aren't attached to the front, they are both attached to a common center line. So pull harder to the right of that attach point and you do turn right. Huh. I lernd something today.

I have been wanting a race game for a bit and this seemed like a great theme. The rules seemed pretty straight forward (once I wrapped my mind around drifting through the turns) and we were up and running quickly.

I see that the game could summer from too much AP, especially with a larger group. It took my quite a few head scratches trying to negotiate the first U-turn. But I also think with more plays, I would have left myself better cards and a sharper sense to resolve it more quickly.

All in all a fun game and I look forward to playing it with more.

Simple mechanics that blend well with the theme. Great components. A lot of options. There is more strategy than what you may think at the beginning. Probably, best race game!

I very much enjoy racing games, and this one is one of the better ones. It's a fairly quick playing racing game with not an overwhelming amount of luck.

The modular board will allow us to tailor the races to our audiences while at the same time allowing us to keep the game new by providing different tracks, and how to navigate them.

My favorite pure racing game. It's a bit mathy (which I love), gives you the ability to plan ahead, can be tight, and gives a great sense of satisfaction when you play your cards right and whip around a corner.

Lowered rating from a 10 to a 9. When this game gets suggested, it just isn't as high on my list to play. I think it's a fantastic game but I've lost the excitement I once had after quite a few plays. While the modular board makes for a good amount of replayability, you're still limited to a set of pieces and a fairly basic rule set that doesn't have too much depth. This is great in that it is easy to teach and is playable by anyone, but after a dozen or so plays also shows that there isn't anything new to find or happen when playing again.

I still think the card management is a great idea in comparison to the roll-and-move of Formula D. Getting dents is more detrimental now than I once thought it was. I just wish there were some more options! It's still a great game but I just feel like I've seen all there is to see with it.
