2009-11-23 - Gift from Secret Santa

October 2011 -- I really enjoy playing this game. It plays quickly and is good for a family group. It is not overly challenging, and there is an element of chance, but even with the dice rolls, you have to make an intelligent decision on how to use the dice results. A good memory helps, too.

A LOT of fun, a GREAT theme, and quite a bit of good, frustrating decisions regarding tile flips and the puzzly design of the pack mechanic.

Revised rating because the more plays we go through, the more we like it as a family. The Resident Evil backpack is totally awesome!

Nice light family game. Love the theme. I'll have to play this more with different numbers of people. So far with 2 or 3 players I can't see a need to get to the temple first and it might actually be better to go slowly. I'll have to see how this works with more players. If there is always an advantage to go slowly then the game could drag as everyone attempts to be last. So far the items that have been used a lot are the first aid kit, compass, survival guide and torch. With more players the map would be more useful than it is with only two or three players.

I enjoy the game for what it is meant to be, a quick light game. Plenty of variety and nice element of surprise as other players flip tiles in front of your pawn.

Silly die rolling game. Yes, its mostly a roll and move. It goes very fast, with lots of groans of despair and shouts of victory as people land on good or bad tiles. There mechanic of using one die to flip a die and one die to move it clever, though most decisions aren't complicated. And sometimes you just roll doubles and have no decision at all. But that's perhaps telling you that you should have picked one of several equipment pieces that would give you a decision!

A welcome gift that has given the children (& me) a lot of enjoyment. The children do well at the memory aspect of the tiles while I can't seem to remember from one turn to the next which hide waterfalls & where the pits are concealed. I like the Ghost Stories art so this light Indy Jones-themed memory game is a goodie.

I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.

Just received this week 1-10-13. Read rules. Game seems easy enough. Sounds like it might be fun, but until we actually try it out. I think it deserves a 7 rating to start

It is definitely a roll and move game with limited decisions to be made. Looks great though. Playing this with son, as a kids game its fine. I have an extra copy sealed for local trade or sale.

7-rating strictly with my kids. I got this for $3.17 shipped from Tanga, so basically thrifted. I read a little on it, and told my boys I thought it was Incan Gold mixed with Gulo Gulo. I was right.

My 5 and 7-yr-old boys love maps, exploring, traps, and games with a little bit of choice among the chance. They ate this up and immediately started devising their own new types of tiles and equipment. My 9-yr-old girl struggles a little more to accept the inevitable turns when you will get hurt/lose an item despite the roll.

The use of the two dice each turn is interesting and provides a meaningful choice 60ish% of the time. My boys also enjoyed the ability to choose among the 7-8 different types of equipment, and they benefitted at least once from each type they had. I think the tiles, dice, and backback space are a great mix of mechanics for young gamers. My 5-yr-old still needs some guidance through what legally fits in the backpack and how to evaluate his two options from the dice each turn.

So it's great as a family game.
