Enjoyable tile placement game with a solid puzzle element. Nicely textured with good play mechanics. I could see how some would complain about the solitaire feel of it but our group didn't mind it all. The nature of play lends itself to a casual style of play. To top it off, I like the game's look and the components are good if not incredible. After one play with four players, I looked foward to playing again. And then I played it again. And again. And looked forward to doing so again! Then I calmed down and realized this is a game I will always own and will always play given a chance.

A classic. Of all the games I own, this is one of my earliest purchases that I am still always willing to play.

Wonderful game. I'm always a sucker for tile-laying games, and this one has many fun elements: resource management, auction, tile placing. Wonderful components and artwork. Update: this has now become my perennial fave.

We loved this from the very first game. The rules are short, even with lots of examples and illustrations. However, there are always decisions to make. You have to balance between short-term points for set collection and long-term points for tile placement. You have to manage money carefully, as you always need to pay with the correct color of money, and if you pay with exact change you get another turn. We play 2-player, which uses a dummy player. The dummy is well thought out and unobtrusive to gameplay. Although we'd seen alot of pictures of the game, the artwork was much prettier than we expected. In short, this is a wonderful game.

Can't believe it took me this long to get this game. Lots of agonizing choices. Great replayability. Fun with 2 or 6 people! Dirk is a beast in 2 player though...

One of my all-time favorites. I've played more than 300 games on BSW before if was removed and always enjoyed it with any number of players (yes! even with 6).
Deeper than it seems after the first play, it offers difficult choices at every turn without beeing too heavy.

The 10 is my wife's rating. I rate it an 8. This game she wants to play daily, even after owning it for over a year.

Great game. One of the best tile games. Easy to play, learn and explain. You have to make the longest wall (score points per wall tile) and build the Alhambra with a variety of tiles.

This game is underrated. The mechanics are easy and nicely balanced. The spacial aspect of building your Alhambra is challenging and fun, similar to Princes of Florence but even better in that aspect. Just all around a super game.

Easy rules. Lots of strategy. Very little luck. Pay attention to the other players and what tiles they might need/play to win this game. Great intro game for nongamers.

Scales nicely from 2-4 people but is really awesome with 3 or more (sorry invisible Dirk). Solid game without any of the expansions but there are some excellent expansions. Upgrade in rating for the gold edition which adds the game board and brings back the tile names. The bigger size box is nice if you want to take some expansions with you on the go. In fact, I stowed away the inserts and boxes and put all 20 expansions in the main box. Some people may balk at the number and 'usefulness' of the expansions but in this case (unlike many over-expanded games) they can tweak the game in all the right ways and even make the 5 and 6 player games excellent.

Great game and works great with 2 people as well. Played over 100 times and still replayable. 10 rating based on 2-3 players. With more this would go down significantly.

The perfect combination of luck and strategy for a beginner's game -- but fun enough that a seasoned gamer won't be disappointed by the game, either.

The thing to love about this game is how it's based on the actual castle of Moorish kings. And you get to build the castle of your own, just like they did years ago. Plus money makes a difference and the walls as well. Just like in the original Alhambra standing in Granada region.

Very enjoyable game. I haven't tried the expansions yet, but I will. But something tells me, the game will be even better...

After reading the rules I decided that this game did not seem all that fun. After finally playing it (multiple times), this game is awesome!!! This is the wife's favorite game. She wins a lot! That might have something to do with it.

A classic building game with money to draft in various currencies. Like 'Carcassonne', the many expansions allow you to tailor-make your favourite twist on the basic engine.

What stops this getting a 9 or 10 is the amount of luck involved with the money. A nice easy going game which is good for non gamers too. Have now regraded this because we play it so often it must be good!
