Same game, same components, same rating and same comments as the original Feurio.

A really nice 10-15 minute opener for 3 or 4 players that captures the wild swinging moods of fires beautifully, as does the chain-out rule for the firemen for them to be safe. Too much luck on the 1's, we're all agreed, and occasionally we play that they're 2's, but for this length of time, it doesn't really matter to us. The decision each turn is where to place your firefighters. Do I place here to expand my chain but maybe get blocked in, or expand over there instead for less points but more chance of keeping my connection alive, or over here to stop someone else getting easy points, or I can see the fire going way over that way so let's start a new chain (or create a firebreak). It's a nice decision each turn, not brain burning. You can't take the result too seriously because the 1's are tres powerful, and player decisions on pussage can be overly influential, but for a 15 minute opener, it hits good buttons.

We also occasionally play the Vulcan game using the same pieces, paratrooping guys into the fire in a line, just to be different. It's an average game and suffers in comparison as the choices are more limited and easier to make due to the board layout and position, but still playable.

The last version, On The Run, is another decent playing, where you're jockeying for position so as to have as many as possible on the outer edge of the fire, ready to step out of the blaze towards game end.

3 decent games in 1 package. Excellent value.

What a simple and easy to learn game, but with unique strategy. The replayability value is very high as well because of the hexes. There are three different versions of the game in the 1 box and it has solo and cooperative play rules for each version.

Well Done!

A very enjoyable game. Really good. Very strategic, but plays quickly. Volcano is the game i have played most. Three games in the one box for 15 squid is really a fantastic deal. 'On the Run' isn't much cop though.

Wow.

At first, this appears to be your average theme-bolted-on abstract. But those who know Heinrich Glumpler will be well aware that you can't take surface appearances for granted. There's some devilishly clever stuff hidden beneath a set of 1-to-6-numbered hexes - just the right amount to stimulate the brain without labouring to chronic AP. The theme makes a surprising amount of sense in context, too. And, if you don't like the first (and, frankly, best) game, there are two more for free in the same box!

Something other than cheap stock pawns would be nice, and the box appears to have been recycled from toilet paper, but some games companies have made a living on that sort of thing.

Juego donde hay que pensar mucho más de lo esperado y con 3 modalidades distintas. Muy interesante. Cada una de las modalidades casi parece un juego distinto. Genial

Ablaze! is a very clever game, with lots of thoughtful strategy [7-8]. Volcano! seems simplistic and short [5]. On the Run! is a bit too abstract for me, but it's clearly a thoughtful and clever game [6-7]. Having all of these in a single box is a big win, especially since I think they appeal to slightly different audiences.

Three games in one box with one set of components? Big win!

Of the three games in the box I've only played the first two. he first one is a decent little game, that will require a few more plays before I grok all the strategy.

I really like the way the board builds out.

Scoring is fiddly, but a good math exorcise for younger kids.

The Second game =- putting out fires caused by a volcano I find very enjoyable.

Graphics are weak, and there were some poor layout choices made when creating the rulebook.

Bought it on a lark because of the low price ($20 retail for a Mayfair?) and neat theme. Was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the games in this little box. Haven't played the 3rd game yet, but the first 2 are a nice cycle. Game 1 puts the tiles out with a very cool "living fire" mechanism, and game 2 lets you have fun while putting the game away. If only Hey, That's My Fish! worked like this!!

A light but subtle game. Despite the restriction on tile placement and the luck of the draw of what tiles you get to place, there are some real tactical choices.

Deeper-than-you-think tile-laying territory game. The theme-mechanic integration is surprisingly clever.

One annoying feature about this game is that the pace of the game is hampered by the strict tile placing rules: You must place your tile adjacent to previously played tiles that have the highest possible sum. Because the game is quite light, hunting for legal tile placements takes just as long as the more meaningful decision: where to place your firefighters/pawns.

The decision where to place your firefighters, though is intriguing. Do you block off your opponent by placing three pawns onto a tile? If you do, then you'll have less pawns to use to expand. Do you focus playing all your pawns on high valued tiles? The risk is that your score is *divided* by the value of one of your tiles located at the edge of the mass of tiles.

I've only played a two player game of the base game.

This is a game about positioning firefighters to safely fight an ever-expanding wildfire through the forest. The best thing about this game is the fire-spreading mechanic. Each hex tile has a heat index, and the fire always spreads towards the hottest adjacent empty hex. You can really visualize the fire progressing, and see it begin to dwindle and the winds change so that the other side burns. It's a very simple mechanic that works well.

That said, the fire fighter placement rules are harder to explain and may take a game to sink in. That's okay, though, because the games are quick. In a nutshell, firefighters on adjacent hexes form a chain, each chain scores separately, and it's worth the sum of the heat indexes of all the hexes of the chain divided by the lowest edge hex heat index. Got that? If you got that then you'd also readily accept that a completely surrounded chain scores no points. But would you then accept that you can't add firefighters to a hex if the lesser of empty circles on a hex and empty adjacent hexes is equal to or greater than the total number of firefighters already on the hex? I think there's a tongue-twister in there somewhere.

Overall, it's a short play, somewhat thematic, and has a few interesting decisions. Fine filler. Rating may go up after trying some of the included variants.

Abstract tile laying game, plenty of value for the price. There are 3 different games that can be played, with solo versions of each. Not bad, but feels samey after a couple plays.

Using the "Dry Season" variant makes Ablaze a big improvement over the earlier Feurio edition.

The Dry Season variant is able to be played in Ablaze by using the included extra set of tiles(another set of 1-6 tiles, and an additional "3"). In this variant the 1-tiles are not used. Which reduces the luck and increases tactical play.

Light enough to be reasonably played in about fifteen minutes, but heavier than a filler game. The English rules are a little hard to understand at times (poor translation?), but once you get past those it's a fairly self-explanatory game.
