This game really scratches my Road Warrior/Death Race itch! An awesome Print & Play that captures fast car combat action with out getting overly complex or "mathy." This is my new go-to car combat game. I find it much faster and more rewarding that Car Wars.

Counterpoint: I disagree; the inability to tip and the thumbs that don't count are part of GQ's charm.
Point: Me Grimlock think tipping answers in GeekQuestions should be fixed.

PNP I've wanted a boardgame version of Interstate '76 for a long time, but no other game ever got it quite right. Outrider pretty much nails it, and it's obvious why - it was actually inspired by I'76! Gameplay is a sort of cross between Car Wars and Wings of War, but it feels quicker and much more streamlined than both despite being turn-based rather than simultaneous. There's a lot of die rolling involved but many of the rolls can be modified or mitigated so it's far from a luckfest; it's more about managing what you've got and making the most of it. The car customization system is brilliant - it's remarkably simple but has a profound impact on how the game plays out, and it can account for many different play styles. I'm giving this a tentative 8.5 for now, but that's likely to go up once I've played it a bit more (and with more people). Bumped up to a full 9; now I just need to get it back on the table.

This game is extremely easy to teach-- and if you are playing at a store or whatever, random people will come up to you and beg to play. This is the best "pocket game" to come out in a long time. Fits in your backpack for quick lunchtime game sessions. [Note: will probably upgrade my rating to a 10 when the game gets some sort of rpg/campaign component.]

As the designer, I wanted to create a vehicular combat game that was fast-paced, but still retained a high level of detail and satisfaction for the players
