For kids, it is a classic game. It's not for adults.

I have probably played this game over a 1000 times. I played it as a boy, and due to lost cherries I have bought new copies for each of my 3 kids. While this game can be VERY tedious for adults, the kids love it, and it has given me many good memories of time well spent.

This is a great game for young kids. It helps them learn to count to four & subtract up to 2.

It's a good game to teach counting for young kids, but probably not that interesting for adults. My daughter enjoys it. One way to spice up play is to require your bucket to have at least ten cherries and your tree to be empty at the beginning of your turn to win, and also allow players to choose where to return cherries (perhaps the tree belonging to whoever is ahead, or distributed among several trees) if the dog, bird or tipped bucket are spun. The rub is that picking must still be done only from your own tree. This can add a bit of a "take that" element.

Attractively illustrated and suitably designed for kids learning to count. Replayability not high though.

An excellenct game for teaching children to count. I loved playing it as a child, and I imagine my children will enjoy it as well. Tedious for adults, but I would not play it for my enjoyment.

Overall, I think this is a great first game for the very young. It teaches waiting for your turn and basic counting. They also like to spin the spinner on their turn. It will get old rather soon, but so does everything else at that age.

As a reviewer remarked, the penalty for a bad spin is too severe and makes the game too long. Seems like it should be okay for kids until you realize that kids games don't have to be bad. Probably would be okay with house rules, but I rank games on the rules that come in the box.

UPDATE: My comments on the original rules stand, but I upped my score on the game to a 5 (from a 2) based on the Orchard-like cooperative rules in the 2007 edition. I'm still not crazy about it, but my daughter likes it, and I at least find it tolerable with those rules.

Found this at my local Salvation Army store for 50c. Great investment as my kids (age 3 and 4) love it.

Eh, it's a pretty run of the mill kids' game, but it is nice for teaching basic counting and turn taking. We got our copy for a dollar at GW and it was complete.

This is another one that my kids love that I find really tedious. It's not the mindless spin and pick up that gets me. It's the fact that this game can go on forever -- if you don't get lucky. Of the 7 spots on the spinner, only 4 give you cherries (10 cherries total). The other three take some away (either 2 or everything). I could understand having the two spaces for losing 2, but the spilled bucket just forces this game to last way longer than it should. To combat this, we usually play with the spilled bucket as a spin again.

Kid-Game, ...used to ramp my children up to speed for the good stuff. (Yeah, ...I rated it a 5 'cause it's a tad boring for players out of pre-school, but I start my kids learning to count on this one and they love it...) ^_^

This is a children's game. Probably the best "first game" I know. It helps children learn to count to four, and also helps with fine motor skills.

Rating assumes playing against my 2 year old daughter. Probably the easiest-to-play game that involves counting, so it's worth something for that.

Against other adults this is more of a 2.
