Like Hare & Tortoise in play, with decisions of when to go forward without overstretching your card resources, otherwise you'll have to go backwards to increase your hand options. This is an improvement on H&T in firstly the board setup differs each game so evaluation isn't repetitive, and card draws randomise things allowing players of different abilities to enjoy the race. Best with 3 to 4 players to allow some of the dramatic leapfrogging, but I find with 3 actions each player has is one action too many, especially if card(s)are drawn intially or during a players turn, which leads to evaluation. This is a shame as determining player status is visual, which I like in a game. However I tend to find that once you are behind and you see gaps appear in the corridors, you start to lose hope which unfortunately isn't short lived in this game.

A curiously addictive board game with an interesting "use a card to go forward, get cards by going backwards" movement mechanism.

UPDATE: The game is better when played with the cards face-up. Otherwise, the randomness is out of control.

I like Hare & Tortoise better.

Neat little racing game where you play cards to move forward and get more cards by moving backward. It's two steps forward, one step back, with a bunch of leapfrogging in between. Deeper than the rules suggest.

An enjoyable and light race game where players have a hand of cards with symbols on them and set up routes between Cartagena and the escape boat. You play a card and move one of your pawns to the next empty place with that symbol towards the boat, leapfrogging that symbol everywhere it has a piece on it. There's also an interesting mechanic where you move pieces backwards in order to draft extra cards.

This is a decent gateway game for people who are really simple in their gaming tastes.
A game with little strategy that a child could easily grasp. Many people who are not gamers will likely enjoy something like this over a deeper game.

Probably Colovini's simplest, most straightforward game. A good, small race game that's easy to play. Anybody know the band Gang of Four? "Two steps forward/six steps back six steps back/one step forward/big jump for me big jump for me". That's how the game plays, sort of. That's the song I think of while I'm playing anyway...

Need to play this more - I suspect it is better with less players, but need to confirm.

Probably good for the kids, which is why I want a copy.
