Enjoy this one with two or three players. Can be random so we don't play this one with four.

A wonderful production by Uberplay and another impressive game design by Schacht. The board composition changes and needs re-evaluated during every turn while available options are limited due to lack of funds creating great turn angst. Plays very well with 2.

I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand it seems almost programmed -- your choices seem obvious. It also suffers from having your decisions dictated chiefly by the player to your right. A weak player to your right can really hand you the game.

Even so, I like the game. Three or four players make for an interesting game, but as a two-player it becomes a rather intense little abstract. And with only two players, you no longer have the weak-player-to-your-right problem.

UPDATE: Several more plays, and I'm coming around. I like this game very much. I no longer get that "programmed" feeling from it. But it does have a bit of a puzzle element to it as you try to find the most optimal move for yourself that won't also set up the next player.

Except for the random tile replenishment, there's no luck in this at all. However, it's impossible to play a long-term strategy. This game is all about short-term tactics -- and it's an excellent tactical game.

UPDATE: I have decided after several plays that this game deserves a "10." It's a perfect little game, good with any number of players and excellent with two.

Played this several times with two. Lots of tough decisions, one must scan the board before each play to isolate the best moves (or lack thereof!) Good mechanism that the best move could be not moving. Might be slow with the wrong people.

Great mechanic with the balance of money goods and market places used to move, position, and gain vps. Goods (vps) must be given up to gain opportunities in future rounds.

The gameplay is great and the art is wonderful. However, while the theme definitely works, there's no real hook here that makes it stand out. I don't really mind. By the way, colorblind people should probably look for another game. UPADATE: Ugraded my rating to 9. This game has surprising replay value and more player interaction than I initially thought. Good stuff!

Very good game. Has some similar ideas to Web of Power, but it's really quite a different game. A very nice blend of "you can take as many actions as you can afford" but with enough restrictions on the actions that the decisions feel tough. Excellent!

The same trading marker (a ship) is moved by each player along shipping channels (which are unidirectional but there are multiple choices and several loops) where they either use resources to establish markets or use their established markets to acquire more resources.

We've only had a few 2P games but I gotta say this game is sweeeeet, despite being dry .

The rules are simple and excellent, the presentation is very pleasant, and the mix of strategy and tactics choices are going to have me pondering with delight for quite a few games to come. There's a couple of mild reality gaps in the theme, but the balance of play currently has me wanting as many games as are on offer.

The smooth flow of this game always adds to the enjoyment for me. The buying and selling of goods provides an interesting tactical puzzle each turn. On the other hand, planning where to set up market booths allows for strategic moves that play themselves out over the course of the game.
NB: The game is very mechanical in nature, so be weary if you find that a negative in games.

Nice trading game that I'd write a longer comment here about except my comments for this game keep on disappearing from the database. Copy from Überplay arrived without any ship or markets - no wooden pieces at all. Update - pieces eventually mailed to a US address and then passed onto me.

--------------
After further play this has really cemented a place in my collection. For what is a rather dry game there's enough choices on your turn to keep you 100% engaged throughout. The system is very clever, simple, smooth and with the alternative board (and scoring tweak), it'll keep you coming back for more. I'd be first in line to pick up a reprint with a double sided board. An excellent streamlined game.

Played only once and all I can say is Wow, what a good surprise.Very good game overall. Plays fast and you still need to balance your play to get the more point. The only problem I found is that if your right opponent is not very aggressive you likely have a better chance to win.
