Very old game which inspired Stratego. The components are mainly cardboard and very dated so you wouldn't play this rather than stratego, but the 7 rating is deserved because it IS stratego.

Slightly different to Stratego. Board is different in the middle. Scouts bounce off each other. Spies always win against Commanders (even in defence). Attacking is only forwards. And if one player can't move they lose.

A nice little game which I still have from my youth in the 1970s.

Happy memories of quick little battles fought out in the lunch hour at school. It's a neat little mechanism. Fast, furious and fun. But not too deep.

Well loved by my 8 year old who would probably rate it a 9 !

Played it in the '70s, when I was growing up. The least interesting of the four related games - which also include Dover Patrol, Aviation and Tri-Tactics.

Unlike Dover Patrol, where you get an interesting rock-paper-scissors dynamic, with submarines able to kill almost all ships, but being vulnerable to MTBs which come in significant numbers, and in which mines add a bit more interest, this is very much one where high value units dominate. Which makes it much less interesting. Not as bad as the very similar Stratego 'though.

My father had a deluxe version of this with plastic pieces depicting what looked like 1920s French and American troops.

Never cared greatly for the game but the pieces were fantastic.
