5-23-12-FINALLY GOT IT! Played 1st game w/2 of the new cards and also used the Capitol exp. 2 of the new special tiles were also drawn. Made the game fresh and new, very exciting! It was just Miles and I so can't wait to play it w/Casey. Will record all plays w/main game, and that is game # 103.

See Kingdom Builder. I do really like all of the additions. Really kicks up the decisions a full notch. Also rocket camels are awesome.

My only annoyance with the expansion is that the tiles are a brighter color than the previous tiles. You can tell the difference when putting them out. It's not a huge problem, but it is annoying.

It adds some good features to an already great game, but I feel it's too expensive for what you receive. You're mostly paying for the included foreign language components. It should have been about $10-15 cheaper.

More variety to the game with new boards and locations. Also the new scoring cards are a good chance as the scoring happens immediately. The Nomad spaces bonuses that can be used only once can sometimes get you out of a tight spot, cause havoc among other players by removing 1 settlement (and cause them to lose a location tile! hhah!) or just score some instant points.

Very good expansion.

The additional kingdom builder cards with there in-game scoring mechanics mix-up play styles in interesting ways. The nomad places add a little chaos to the game, but in doing so create additional incentives to build settlements in otherwise atypical fashion. The new landscape boards and their abilities are a nice addition. Some of the abilities tend to be more interesting than others, but all have there uses.

The option to now play with five players is also good.

this expansion really adds more depth to the game with real time scoring rather than just end of game. The nomads are kind of random as it's a bit hard to predict what you are going to use them for but still adds a race to get them because you fear your opponent may get them. The new boards and special ability locations really make this expansion shine.

This expansion has few new rules but adds many more options to think about. My brain actually hurt a bit after using the many options in this expansion set. It changes the game into a heavier thinking game and one really needs to decide before hand if you want to use this expansion for a heavier, longer game of play just the original which is shorter and has less heavy pondering but still has interesting decisions. I don't think this expansion makes the game better just different on the same level. Great game with or without.

Nomads is excellent, and integrates easily with the base game. The new scoring options are quite in tune with the originals, and the maps are a good addition too. The new Nomad tiles are a good change-up: rarely worth getting early on, they are still powerful and you want to stop them falling into the wrong hands. We have found several games were deeper than with the base set alone.

I am not sure about 5-player Kingdom Builder: never a fan of added downtime, and the board gets remarkably crowded. I doubt it will be a regular 5-p item.

For KB lovers. Those not liking KB won't get fond of the game, because of this expansion.

My thoughts on the components:
- 3 new goal cards -> very good; after you get used to the constant scoring, you really start to appreciate the new layer of decisions provided by them...
- 4 new tile abilities -> fine, in vein of abilities from the base game. Quarry(!) and Caravan seem to have the most profound effects...
- 15 one-shot nomad tiles -> _really_ well-balanced; it's an interesting decision when to pick them up - they are not so great to get them immediatley (when you have so many multi-use abilities on the board) and on the other hand they are too strong later in the game just to leave them alone... I like it.

All in all, more of a needed variety and generally great impression. The game is a pure joy now!

Waiting for more expansions!!!

Sadly, serious gaps in rules - at least filled here, on bgg, by the designer...

1 play so far. Adds more variety and combinations to an already great game.
- Nomad spaces aren't terribly interesting.
- Shepherds: very cool scoring criteria. Really changes how we play, and the relative value of the location tiles.
- Camels: Crazy powerful, especially for sector-based scoring criteria.

It adds more of the same and a couple new concepts. Kingdom Builder was never meant to be a complex game and Nomads doesn't make it such. We bought Nomads right as we stopped tabling Kingdom Builder almost daily so it hasn't seen much action, but it seems good.

Fits the original game like a glove, scoring during game play is a perfect addition and the Nomad-cards add some speedy tension. I enjoy the game even more with this expansion.
The only minus (for both, KB and the extension), I think they ask for a little bit too much money. Will have to wait for a good deal. Nevertheless, fantastic game and here is a fantastic expansion.

Weaker of the two main expansions. Nomad tiles, while interesting, grant a one-time use power, that must be used the turn immediately following acquiring the nomad tile.

However, this expansion includes the RED PLAYER, so, instant purchase for futiles!

An expansion that actually adds to the game without making it take longer and more complex is a rarity and this one does just that!
The one shot Nomad actions are great and entice people away from their expected starting locations and so balances the game start.

Kingdom Builder: Nomads adds some nice new possibilities to the base game with the immediate scoring of settlements. The new abilities and one-shot locations spice up Kingdom Builder and add even more variety. Especially the caravan is a current favorite of mine.

To sum it up: A real good expansion that adds variety without complicating the base game. Give it a shot!

A fun expansion. The pieces for the 5th player makes it competitive while still fun and interesting.

As for it's value I'm not so convinced. It's a pretty big box and compared to a lot of expansions it's not crazy awesome. Still adds fun variations to a great game so still good.

Fantastic expansion to a great game. After mulling it over and based on some comments here on BGG, I removed Sword from the Nomads set. Minor quibble though. This expansion adds a lot to the base game without watering it down or making it complicated... it makes an already highly replayable game even more highly replayable!

A solid addition to the Kingdom Builder game. Adds in different point options that now also include in game scoring and nomad tiles that grant a one time special bonus. Makes you think about a couple more things. Also adds in a few more boards. Best thing is that I could fit both the original and the expansion in the expansion box to save room...yes, I threw out the insert.

Adds some natural "expected" new abilities (e.g. location tile to build on flowers) and some qualitatively new stuff (location tile to place stone wall barriers, and the one-use nomad tiles). Plus 3 new goals (which provide points for doing things in your turn instead of points in the final scoring). A fine expansion though certainly not necessary to enjoy the game. I'd play just the base set first to get used to it before using Nomads.

Be sure to read Kingdom Builder: Nomads FAQ as the rules are unfortunately inconsistent about whether a "built" settlement means strictly "built" or "built or moved"...

Nomads is a neat expansion, and I've integrated it into my base game. (Putting the insert from Nomads into the original box makes it all fit nicely.) I'd probably de-integrate it to teach the game, as Nomads introduces a few extra elements on top of what's normally in the game.

My first play included almost every element of the expansion, and they all work well together. The nomad one-off abilities are interesting, although I do dislike the variability on one level: If a couple Nomads tiles come up, there's a lot more stuff for new players to keep track of because of those abilities.

The score-as-you-go win conditions change the tenor of the game just a bit, and give you something to worry about on an ongoing basis; I dig that. The new map tiles are great, and I like the new abilities.

A reasonable expansion. It does add to the overall variety of the game, although its not earth shattering or in the category of must have. The box is way bigger than it needs to be and has already been thrown away as everything fites inside the base box with some ease.

While the expansion does have a higher price point than many might prefer it offers quite a bit to the fans of the game. The fifth player adds little length but some fierce competition, while the new bonus tiles fill the gaps that were left by the base game and even add a couple nifty ideas. I like the idea of most of the nomad tiles though there is one that I will never play with again as it seems against the spirit of the game. The most significant addition is the new scoring cards; when the conditions are met you gain the vp's immediately. That means that you can often reuse those settlements with bonus tiles and this makes for a significant strategic shift in the game play.

While I don't think there's a need for another expansion (though now that the game has won SdJ there will be, I am certain) I'd welcome it. This game continues to have legs for our group with almost 20 play and still going strong.

Nice expansion, just adds enough without changing the game. Only played this expansion with 2 so far, I hope to get the chance to try it with 5 someday.

*UPDATE* Played with 3 players. The play time is up to 70 minutes. There seems to be more to think about than in the base game though I think it is more the case that we are understanding the game better and are rising to the challenge of optimising our turns. The rules are wonderfully simple and there is no conflict between the players so I see this being a hit with 'wives'. My better half enjoys it. April 2012

*UPDATE* Played over 30 times. I now use this every time I play Kingdom Builder even with new players. March 2013
