Hidden trackable information in games sucks!

I play games for fun and pursuing the goal to win the game is fun! :)

I love this mini expansion, it adds to the game very nicely!

Avatars considerably reduce the common issue of not having enough things to do with your XP in the late (and sometimes even middle) game. All five of them cost 4 or 5 XP to upgrade to level 2 and three of them offer a way to burn XP for bonuses regularly at level 2.
These ways to spend XP also make the village cards Bandia's Wisdom and Veteran Trainer stronger, which are the very two village cards from Towers of Ruin I consider to be too weak otherwise. So Avatars help lessen this imbalance. I think Veteran Trainer is appropriately attractive with Avatars and Bandia's Widsom is at least not as utterly weak as it usually is without them. See here (*click*) for how avatars make the two village cards stronger.

The avatars enhance the game most in scenarios where players choose different ones because they plan for different strategies, thus adding a true variable player power element, which I generally really like in games (see my 11th general preference in my profile). There are probably some scenarios in which all or at least most players choose the same Avatar, but even then the new ways to spend XP are nice to have. And at least in my games with avatars so far, many different avatars were chosen.

I like variable player powers. These are not gamebreaking, but offer interesting nuances in gameplay.

Just another thematic piece of the puzzle that Thunderstone needs to make it more of a dungeon crawl
