Bold expansion.

It contains a lot of kingdom cards, and there are a few that significantly depart from the original gameplay, and I enjoy this kind of bold innovations given its timing of release. I especially like the kingdom cards that bring "Spoils" cards into play, as I believes that it adds another layer to the game in an effortless way.

Many of these cards are on the complicated side with a lot of text, so it tends to lengthen the playing time.

More amazing Dominion-ness. Not much more to say really - but I'll note that this not only has by far the most stuff of any Dominion expansion (35 Kingdom cards instead of the usual 25 or 26, and several piles of extra cards that go with particular kingdom cards), and is probably my favourite of all the Dominion sets in terms of how the cards play out. There are some very complex interactions here, and cards which, in any given set, it can be hard to tell whether they're a must-buy to build your whole deck around, or are totally unhelpful. Band of Misfits, Procession, Rats, Counterfeit, and several others all fit into this category, and this is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

A unique expansion to Dominion that can change the starting deck, introduces cards that you can put into an opponent's deck but dont suck as bad as curses, and makes trashing cards quite important. One of my favorite Dominion expansions.

After the somewhat weaker "Hinterlands", Dark Ages is another great expansion whose ideas really alter the gameplay and feeling of Dominion so far, making Dominion even more diverse than it was before. Fittingly, Dark Ages is the most sinister and most aggressive of all Dominion titles

I love Hinterlands, but this may be the best expansion yet. Ruins are a MUCH preferable "attack" to curse cards, and the spoils cards and transforming cards are great ideas. So many cool ideas going on in this set. I really can't say enough good about it.

The only downside? The artwork is a little drab in colour owing to the theme - which is hardly the end of the world, but slightly more differentiated art would have made it easier to play in lower-light coniditions.

Sold sleeved to D 45.

My first ten rating ever. I was extremely dubious when I first glanced over the cards ("What is UP with trash, trash, trash!?") but after playing it I am in love with the card selection and the way this plays. I was worried all the trash mechanics would slow up the game, but it's quite the opposite. I've never won with such a trimmed-down lean deck before. There are still some agonising decisions but they're decisions between great and even better.

As a bonus, many of the card titles thematically match the actions... a little mind-blowing in a Dominion game, that.

Love it, well done Sir Don!

Probably my favourite expansion after Prosperity. I love how Dark Ages messes up the game with a greatly inflated trash pile and the crazy new interactions between the cards by way of trashing. Because of this, it's also the most complex expansion so far and absolutely only for experienced players. But they'll love it.

This is the largest Dominion Expansion Pack and it adds a tonne of new game play mechanics, and you can employ a lot of new strategies to win the game. It was really nice of the Creator to include suggested sets for all of the other Expansion packs. I feel that the suggested sets were really well thought out.

This has only been out for a few weeks, but I for see my self playing this a lot.

I think that this expansion has added unique depth and strategy considerations to the overall game. The card art is beautiful, the theme fun, and the experience very enjoyable. Games might be a little slower than before, but I don't mind--building up a kingdom in the dark ages is more challenging and rewarding, even if it is a little more frustrating at times.

As I've said at least five times before, more variety for Dominion is always a good thing. This pack adds in some cards that reward trashing. That's something that will take some getting used to, particularly for my wife who likes to avoid trashing in most of her decks. I find the strategy of some of the cards to be really interesting. For instance the Rats seem to have their own tipping point where you have to stop playing them. I do feel that the shelters are a fairly pointless addition. While they have some function, and make the first few turns a little different, I don't expect we'll play with them again that often. I think it might have been more interesting if everyone started with slightly different shelters to make each person's deck unique from square one and perhaps direct everyone down different strategic paths. Just a thought. Despite the lackluster shelters I still enjoy this expansion and will mix these cards in for future random kingdom card draws.

This is my favorite Dominion expansion. The trash mechanic is extremely prominent and I feel it works well with the theme. I also like how they swapped out estates (which no one wants) and give you some equally useless cards, but depending on the kingdom cards on the board they at least have a chance at becoming more useful than estates. The art for Dark Ages is some of the best out of all the Dominion games I've played thus far.

Possibly the best expansion to the best game ever.

That said I do not suggest getting this expansion until you've played the other expansions a fair amount. It really changes things up, and that's good, but if you experience it too early you shorten your progression through the Dominion experience.

This was the set in which the designers and producers stopped holding back on the complexity, and the result was taking Dominion up another notch. There are so many cards which can now create interesting decks from trash retrievers to rats to cultists to cards that evolve into other cards. If I was to label any Dominion set as being the "big boy" set, it would be Dark Ages.

An amazing addition to my favorite game. A bunch of new cards, most of them more complex than any I currently have. Definitely not something I would recommend as a first, or even second expansion.

35 kingdom cards plus a few additional and interesting sets that don't count towards the 10 set supply limit.

I also love the alternative to the curse cards, the ruins. With each new expansion I got I always thought there should be an alternative to the curse card, and then came ruins.

The theme is exceptional. The artwork is beautiful and the cards are extremely well done. Ruins resemble the base dominion cards, only ruined, which is awesome.

After playing Prosperity and Cornucopia, Dark Ages offers a completely different feel and direction.

Simple put - amazing. It's also rather cheap, so I recommend this to anyone who has at least played any three dominions (perhaps the big box collection, or intrigue, seaside and cornucopia, etc.).

Was skeptical at first because of the amount of changes that this expansion brings, but I was wrong to question it. Replacing your starting estates gives you a few more options now instead of just trying to trash them as fast as possible and the +2 actions card that you start with can really help out early in the game. The new cards seem to be mostly great additions to the game and they can change up some of the common strategy. I was even able to win a game using the Poor House by getting rid of every one of my trasure cards.

The only downside is that a lot of these cards have abilities that relate to trashing cards, and if you randomize your Dominion games using multiple expansions, you might not have any cards that let you trash. Still, a highly recommended expansion.
