Great extensions to a great game; the Korean map is really different, and the Scandinavian map is challenging.

This expansion has a brilliant new map: Korea. The change to "generic" gray cities which accept deliveries only of the color cubes they currently have adds a level of play to the standard game. An easy 10.

The other map: Scandinavia is not as good. But it is a decent 3 player game map--4 players seems unduly restrained. It adds a Ferry action to allow some of the water to be crossed. Probably a 9 overall.

Overall the package is a 10.

Korea-nice dynamic map. Since the demand for goods vary with the availability of goods, the strategy for building new tracks for this map differs from other maps. Good for 4 players

Scandinavia:

I have a soft spot for Scandinavia because I earned my very first Age of Steam win on this map. It was my second game of AoS, and from then on I knew that I loved the system.

A great three-player map, touch-and-go with four, and insane with five.

Korea:

The most unpredictable of the expansion maps, as cube-clogged cities force shorter deliveries and you never can tell when a "lucky" production roll will add a cube to an intermediate city that turns your 6-link delivery into a paltry 1- or 2-link delivery.

Still a good time.

Scandinavia is average but a good map for 3 players

Korea is terrific with colors of towns determined by the goods cubes ! for 4 players

Played Scandinavia with 3 players. The map seems quite open at first, but the narrow terrain quickly chokes opportunities and the plentiful expansion cities become essential to survival. The Ferry action helps alter the Locomotive/Urbanization dynamic.

Played Korea with 4 players. The dynamic city wants was very cool. The map seemed to play well with 4, but 5 would likely also be good. Definitely a map that will get played many times.

9.5 rating for Korea. I love the rule changes in Korea. We played it with Steam rules by the way, worked excellent, no problems at all. For Steam, start out with a City Growth marker at Pyongyang, as there is no production there.
9 for Scandinavia. 3 or 4 players seems best. Control over the center is important. Then in the late game it is about control over the ferry action. Interesting map.

Only played the Korea map so far, but it's an excellent addition to the game. Goods are not as scarce late in the game, due to the new cities each providing two cubes on entrance. And the new goods rules can really hinder your plans in the endgame.

Haven't yet played Korea but Scandinavia is nice, the board is very tight with a lot of cities only having a couple connections. The ferry mechanism is very useful and adds a nice dynamic. I'll rate after more playings but it's a very solid addition to the series.

The rating is based solely on the Scandinavian map side as that is the only one I've played so far. I find the map 'perfect' for three players, and the new "ferry" action choice is tricky and angsty all at the same time. The other nice thing about the board is the position of the colored cities is deliberate. Note the blue cities are far away from each other and the yellow/purple cities are close, makes the early good moves obvious and the late moves scarce. Very neat-o.

The ferry action is poorly explained in the rules. Just think of it as a free jump along a coast during a goods move.

Great map and scenario for the Age of Steam game system - the sea routes and especially the "Ferry Action" are wonderful and interesting mechanics. The Ferry Action makes it possible to essentially move a good to a better run. Probably even tighter with 5 or 6 players.

Scandinavia is probably a good 3-player map, as it was slightly too narrow for 4 players. It's also not a good map for beginners to start on. It took a while, before we understood the power of the new action "ferry".
The Korean map was as said the worst brainburner found in the serie, but it's great as a 3-player game, but might be ok as a 4-player game, as we had some non-explored areas in the game. It was too simple to do an urbanization, as this immediately adds new cubes, but missed that towns were good links, which never got blocking cubes for the long links!

I thought Korea would be too chaotic, but the changing colors of the cities adds a whole new layer of strategy and options that must be taken into consideration. I really enjoyed Korea.

Scandinavia would be fun for 4 players, but was too harsh with 5. The ability to "steal" a good is a great screwage tool.
