much more challenging than original T&T. The horse rules adds another decision layer. Sincerely, why didn't this game come with wooden houses?

Great expansion and makes an already great game even better. It definitely frees up your options and allows you to make the routes you want to make whenever you want to make them. We play this version more than the original. It also almost completely eliminates the "having to trash your route" option if you can't connect your cities, because you can always just add the horses to your carriage.

First off, T&T is one of few games I rate a '10', I love it. And I've played this expansion just once, so...

After first reading the rules, I was a bit nervous. They took away the carriages, which I thought was an essential dimension to the game. But this expansion is now more strategic, the map is a bit more difficult, getting longer routes seems tougher. Because of the new horseshoe requirements, your risk of not being able to continue a route is now almost zero, but it was basically zero in the original game - So I feel that "push your luck" element is gone from the expansion, but it really wasn't there in the first place.

The game however is going to be longer because of the horseshoe requirements, and because the game only ends when one player's houses runs out - so that's kinda a minus about it. But because there are 24 cities and you're trying to dump all 20 houses, you need to be much more efficient with your route-planning. All my players felt this was an excellent expansion now with more strategic choices. I need a few more plays before I can rate it a '10' to see if it's balanced enough like the original.
