A perfect expansion. Adds variety and style with little extra complexity or hassle. Virulent challenge adds amazing depth and the different special action cards are wonderful. You can no longer count on getting that gov't grant (much like real life unfortunately). The Petri plates are not just flash, so much more pleasant to play with everything organized.

Haven't tried all of the different components and variations yet but I've enjoyed it so far. For me, On teh Brink takes Pandemic to a 10 just due to the extra variety and play options.

A really nice expansion that offers a few new challenges, better overall scaling, and a competitive variant for Pandemic!

Excellent expansion to an excellent game, and one of the absolute best examples of what an expansion should do.

The Bio-Terrorist variant is so-so, but the other variants and all of the new cards more than make up for it. Even if you don't use the Mutation or Virulent Strain options, the additional roles and special actions add a ton of extra variety to the game.

The petri dishes for storage are a great bonus, and thematic too!

Amazing. This expansion adds so much! You won't believe how much more fun it is to have variety in special events and roles. The variant challenges are also very well done! Play them in order; the bioterrorist makes much more sense if you've played mutation first.

An excellent expansion to my favorite co-op game. I like the roles -- they did a good job of adding roles without having a lot of silly or overpowered ones.

I still haven't tried the Bioterrorist variant, bit I really don't enjoy games where it's one against everyone as much as pure co-op games.

This expansion put Pandemic over the top for me. I don't vary the game much, but I like the options that it gives me when I do play.

Since I really enjoyed Pandemic, I was excited to hear about the new expansion Pandemic: On the Brink. Ultimately, this could probably serve as an example of how to do an expansion right. You get upgraded components (the new Petri dishes are a great touch), new components for more players, and new gameplay modules that you can mix and match into the game that dramatically increase the replayability of the game. The new role cards themselves would be worth the price of admission, but we've also enjoyed the virulent epidemic module and the mutation module. We haven't tried the bioterrorist role yet, and to be honest it does sound like more work than it's worth.

Pandemic: On the Brink makes Pandemic that much better, but it's still a game that we enjoy with a group of people rather than just the two of us. Still, highly recommended.

Even if it was just the new roles, it breathes a lot of life into Pandemic. Add the extra variants (and even if Bio-Terrorist is sort of weird, it does add a bit of competition to the game), and you have an instant winner.

The base game of Pandemic provided me with nearly three dozen total plays before starting to feel a little stale. Still though, it was fun to play with the right people, and it especially helps that my mom loves that game.

After playing this nearly a dozen times, mostly in 2-player games, I realize how much depth this small expansion adds. After continued plays now (25+) and finally getting a chance to try the Bioterrorist, I've given it a 10 from a 9. The Bioterrorist plays out very well and is quite fun to play. An element of stealth with sabotage and disease spreading is so different to play, but also a lot of fun. After seeing all facets of the expansion and still having a blast playing each time, I feel the rating is well deserved.

New roles should be a must in all games. New special actions less so (I'm not much a fan of the "switch a role" card, particularly). Virulent Disease and Mutation are excellent options, but the Bio-Terrorist variant seems poorly balanced and I avoid using it.

I've never been one for expansions, especially for games that I already love. Generally I find that I love the base game so much that an expansion can't possibly make it better, it can only make it worse. In this case, though, I'm not so sure. I don't love the idea of an expansion where you can add in bits and pieces, but what I've played of the pieces so far has been so much fun that I really have to say that this expansion succeeds in keeping the base game alive while adding just enough additional challenge and variety so that it can't get boring.

Right now I have only played with the new role cards, the new special actions, and the virulent strain. I'm amazed at how the new roles change the way you play the game. Each person has their strengths and weaknesses and the game seems to be all about figuring out how to maximize the strengths. I'm very anxious to try the variants with the 5th disease...

Update: I have now tried the Mutation variant. I like how it changes the feel of the game by constantly adding in more cards to the infection discard pile. I did feel that combining the mutation and the virulent strain gave me a little too much to remember and slowed the game down more than I'd like. So in the future I will probably only try one part of the expansion at a time.
