Lovely Steam expansions for two players and a bonus one for four players as well, with some rule changes, so the basic game will not get boring. Both two player maps have an interesting mechanism of bribes, which makes both maps very tough - which is great. I actually prefer the South Carolina, with the additional excellent twist of paying for deliveries, while Georgia Reconstruction perhaps has too many special rules. Oklahoma Land Rush is in my opinion the weakest of all three maps.

1867 Georgia Reconstruction: The map felt a bit too harsh - I lost the turn order auction on first two turns and the game was practically over by that point. Nice ideas, but the lack of connections on the map make things really hard. Well, next time I'll know better... Rating: 7

Indifferent.

South Carolina: More gentle map, and the bidding procedure seemed more interesting. We had a good, very tight match. Recommended! Rating: 8

Suggest.

Oklahoma Land Rush: We tried the harder variant. The winner was the player who didn't go bankrupt. Everyone else did. Nasty. Getting cash flow was really hard, because getting to each cube cost more money. Try the easier version first. Rating: 7

ASL ... yes, this is my Desert Island Game. If I have to give up all my 3000+ games and only allowed to keep one, this would be it. This bloody game stood the test of time. Around for more than 25 years - simply the best.

Only played GA map thus far, which is a solid 2p map. There was tension on the board and even in the auction.

Oklahoma landrush: field full of cubes, go west, specialize in one or two colors to deliver. Urbanization as a nasty blocking action. Interesting map for a change and it is worth playing from time to time, but it will not become one of my favorites. Ultimately it is too dependent on who gets his delivery colors blocked the most, which means it is not a map with much tension or close finishes. Rating 7

South Carolina: Interesting variation. Blind bidding for turn order with cubes yellow or purple. The gameplay on the board is only with blue, red and grey cubes. Deliveries cost 1 money. Set up is flexible, as cities are placed at the start. The only action available is engineer for the first player. Winning first turn and engineer is important especially in the beginning. Good map, good variation, I like it. Rating 8

1867 Georgia Reconstruction: same blind bidding for turn order. I like it. This one is tougher than South Carolina. Only actions available are urbanization and city growth (with Steam rules). In my game my opponent got locked out, we broke off, result was clear. I would like to play this again.

OK LAND RUSH: This map takes the long-term strategy of the basic game and gives it a tactical element by the way that the goods are all known and pre-determined on the map. That means that the first person to get to a certain point of the map will get first dibs on the good that's in that space, but the surfeit of goods, paired with the networks still being lucrative and important, give the map a nice tension. I'm not sure that this is a favorite, but it's certainly worth playing time and again.
