I like the universities, river towns, and bridges. I also like that uses my home state!

This is a nice variant for Catan with logical placements for resources (ore near Gary for steel and Bedford for limestone). Extra coin is found near bodies of water and in college towns. Nicely thought-out design with lots of re-playability, especially for people who live in one of these states, like me.

Very nice scenario! There are torturous areas on the map, which you must traverse only with a perspicacious plan (or really good luck). Thematically, I really like that the Ohio River and Great Lakes are waterways that everyone connected to it can use.

I use this in my classroom since I teach in Indiana. Many thanks to Mayfair for giving me copies for my class at GenCon '10. Catan has valuable lessons for education, such as allocation of scarce resources, the value of trade, and multiple ways to "advance your civilization" aka win.

Plays very quickly. The gold from universities is very effective, but don't let one player, like my younger son, get uncontested settlements in the university row in the west. Not that I speak from experience.

I love the Catan series, and as an Ohio native I "had" to get this (and paid WAY too much for it). It is fun but I'd say the 3 player game is pretty flawed because bricks are so rare that trading is difficult (the #5 Brick hex can't be mined because the rules for 3 players don't allow settlements around it).

I recommend using the same rules for 3 and 4 player games because trading is what makes the game fun. I love the use of the Ohio and Indiana maps and the university rules are great --but the game seemed harmed by the difficulty in getting trades.

Of the two USA maps, this one seemed more interesting. Still, I'd rather play Settlers of America instead.

An interesting and challenging map for Catan.

Has all the elements of regular Settlers plus gold for trading that doesn't count against the hand limit.

Widely released version of the Indiana & Ohio state map sold at gaming conventions. Information is given for each town/city at the top, and special rules are on the bottom. Extra victory points for reaching certain cities, certain spots have trade bonuses, and there is gold coming in from college towns which can be traded in for other things.

PLUS: a real world map for Catan
MINUS: it's a gimmick that doesn't incite repeated plays

Wolfcon 2011. Rough map. The main resources are wheat and sheep. What do you build with that? The gold resource adds a little bit as do the extra VP chips. But not a map that I want to play again.

When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why. But why wonder? I'm green, and it'll do fine: it's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be.
