I really liked this WWI game based on World in Flames. It is need of a makeover to bring it up to standard for World in Flames: the Final Edition. Loads of fun.

Would have been rated higher, but why would you play this when Paths of Glory is out there?

Felt this was better than Guns of August. Plays quicker. A brave attempt at depicting National moral which forces the allies to keep attacking. Let down because average results will always Kill twice as many attackers as defenders(in reality the defenders lost about %90 of the attackers casualties) also a badly botched attack can fataly weaken your front. Needs an attrition option like third reich to allow for the slow bleeding away from the major offensives.

We played this one quite a lot over the years. Apperently we are not agressive enough because we never break anyones morale, except the Turks

A WWI game that works, but I have not played it much. Not a conflict that many players are interested in.

Before Paths of Glory this was my favorite game of WWI grand strategy. Basically, the World In Flames game adapted to World War I. Good game.

Well, FA is a great game - if you are a World in Flames player. It is an add-on to an earlier edition of WIF, so, with the advent of the Final Edition WIF you can pick up the old versions cheap. I like the Naval Combat system, especially how you lose morale points for losing capital ships. Be careful though, cause the loss of Turkey causes the Austro-Hungarians and Germans to lose a bunch of morale - and that usually causes AH to quit the war, and then Germany. Overall a good system.

I liked this better than World in Flames, but it has since been superseded by other WW1 games.

WW1 using the WIF maps. Not as good as WIF and there are better WW1 strategic games also.

Taking a 1/2-hex at a time just shows this game might have been better w/ new maps at different scale. Counter density can be awful too.

It took PoG for me to believe a WWI grand strategy game could be interesting and exciting. Fatal Alliances had managed to create that earlier prejudice.

Avoid. Or butcher the game for its rather nice counters.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

L - A - M - E. The overlay map didn't even match up with the WiF map left-to-right and top-to-bottom.

With the number of rules modifications needed to make this game work under the WiF rules umbrella, this one should have been designed as its own entity.

Yet to play. Would have preferred paying more and getting a stand-alone map. The back of the T. E. Lawrence (of Arabia) counter is a hoot!

I really liked this one. For me, this was a neat variation of WIF for WWI. fairly fast-playing (but then everything's relative)

Loved wif and bought this, but have never managed to get opponnets for it. Would make a good introductory to main Wif for the second second world war. Though with the chnages to Wif in final edition- perhaps not.

A WiF5ed WWI version and perhaps my all time favorit WiF game. Really a two player game. And perhaps not a very balanced game but fun!
