I was teetering on the edge of hating 7 Wonders before this but this really made it worse. It adds a bunch of cards that are unbalanced and force players to plan ahead in a game that is primarily tactical. If you take a leader that rewards strategy A but don't get the cards you need than it was a total waste. The game was frustrating before and this really ruined it.

Don't like them. Unnecessarily slows down the game. Not balanced.

Really not that big of a fan of Leaders. It reminds me too much of the goals in Race for the Galaxy where they kind of force you in a certain direction. Adds unneeded length to a game that strives off being so short.

Didn't really enjoy playing with this - made a fun and fairly fast game a pain

Will try a few more plays but this is one expansion I don't mind leaving out

If this fell into the trash by accident I don't think I would go through the effort of digging it out

When I think of what 7 Wonders needs, "more iconography" is not the first thing to spring in my head. After passing the cards, we have to play passing the rulebook. I would rather play 7 Wonders without this expansion.

I think if I play this expansion more, and am used to what the card does without having to pass the rulebook with my hand, I *may* like it. Right now, I'm a bit bitter as to how the leaders interact. In a 4p game, it was just my luck to be sitting next to a guy that played a leader that countered mine. Round one, I play the 'gain VP at end of the game for winning battles', he plays 'take your losing battle chits and give them to your opponent'. Meh.

The iconography is terrible and offputting, unlike the core game. Overall, this expansion really makes me hate 7 Wonders.

Somehow disapointing... After the fabulous game I was expecting something as spectacular... It's not... doesn't add anything and it turns the game more complicated...

The Leaders expansion added an unnecessary complication to an elegantly designed game. We also found that Rome had a consistently disproportionate advantage when used. In addition, the game is called 7 Wonders, not 8 or 9... that's right I am talking about you Catan!

Doesn't really add much. It mostly just interrupts the flow of the game, especially with new players who need to look up the esoteric symbols on the cards.

Why complicate a game that's appreciated for its simplicity?

What an awful expansion. Hay guys I have an idea. Let's do a draft before the draft! Then what do we do after the post-draft draft? Nothing! Because this game is kind of dumb! (Oops. I let a critique of the base game leak into my comment on the expansion)

But seriously, this isn't as horrible as it would be if you had to pre-draft for something like Magic, because at least you have much less variation in the packs you'll "open" in 7 Wonders. It still feels like too many important decisions are front-loaded with Leaders, though. I don't even know what I might possibly want my tableau to look like, and you're asking me to make decisions about the last round of the game already? Hmph.

Ugh. The strength of 7 Wonders is adapting to what your opponents are doing. Yet this expansion wants us to draft right at the very beginning?!
Even worse, they still bog the game down by adding a 'Leader phase' before every round. If you're going to implement this kind of speed bump, you might as well have forced the drafting then. At least then it wouldn't ba as forced.

To the people saying "But it's great, it pushes you into a certain direction and others can react to that and..." NO.
There is a reason some Leaders are OP. Bilkis for example always orks, is always worth the money. IT's always worth drafting the science leaders just in case you can go for science and otherwise just so you can keep it from others. It just is not a very good expansion.

It works well when you also implement Cities but by then this simple drafting game with a great theme has become a huge bloated monstrosity that you once loved...

Leaders makes a good game fairly bad, you get stuck on one strat before you even pick up your 1st hand, making the whole game far more luck based than it should be

Okay expansion but doesn't really improve the main game. If anything, i enjoy the game less with the expansion. It adds a more random element to the game (not all leaders are created equal, and if you get bad choices, it hampers you more in the game) - and it takes longer to play.

It was ok, but expansions are generally frustrating for me, especially when applied to a perfectly fine game in the first place. Which version will get played? Who needs an update on the rules? Who won't play one version or another? Ughh

- pasted from Cities comment - It's fine, but this is a game that doesn't need to be more complicated than it is. It's just a little 15-20 minute filler - not some big box strategy game. Felt the same about Leaders.
