Clever tile placement game. The rules are simple but since everything is open information some planning is required to play well. The more advanced game with extra scoring at game end is highly recommended.
IMPORTANT NOTE: While the rest of the components are printed on heavy cardboard, object tokens are printed on *very* thin cardboard (probably to lower printing costs) severely affecting gameplay as they are easily recognizable during play! ASMODEE offers NO SOLUTION so far... BE WARNED before you buy!
The game is heavily based on auctions and the rules are simple, but there are *many* things to consider during play - which colors to support, what pieces to auction and when, how much to pay, when to extend a building zone, the mayor, e.t.c.
Nice game but too much errata for the number of components included - better wait for a reprint if you don't like applying stickers on ALL boards and some cards to correct the errors which should be caught if someone had spend 10 mins checking them before going to print...
Not as complicated as other Wallace releases. A nice blend of mechanisms that work. Note that the water cubes provided with the game are not enough. Let's hope that Warfrog will provide some more cubes free of charge to owners of the game.
