I like this game, but I feel like you really need all of the expansions and have to play many times to enjoy it. I don't love it enough to be that dedicated. I'd gladly trade this game in for Ascension or even Quarriors.
This game is a suprise hit whenever I take it out. I feared the repetiitve nature of the game would be a turn-off, but time is occupied by everyone trying to calculate the monster movement, making (and breaking) deals to avoid being eaten. This a great game for a group of 6 or 7, and can be highly interactive with the right group!
It's great fun, and I actually like the art. My experience after only one game is that it ended rather fast and without warning because of one special building. The game ended in a three way tie, which is a little unsettling as well. However, the game play is very fun, interactive, and challenging enough to keep me interested...more so than Dominion. Glory to Rome!
A really great hidden gem. I love the bidding mechanic with secret goals. It's a quick game with some thoughtful strategy. The poorly designed board gets well deserved criticism, but the other components are great.
I'm not a huge fan of deck-building games. Dice-building is not any better, but it was a fun game. I'd play it on occasion. If I need a deck/dice build game fix, I'll still turn to Ascension of the God Slayer first.
Once you get over the learning curve (I hated this game the first time I played), the game-play and emerges as quite ingenious. Be careful how you teach this. It can turn someone off very easily with the overwhelming iconography.
