For such a family-friendly looking game, this game really kicks your ass. I never feel like I am making any progress. For the love of God, start with the family game if the majority of players have not played! Still waiting to see what it's like when people know what they're doing.

The game is good when it ends at some point. None of this "one more round" crap.

Very good for a party game; it allows for lots of creativity and a little bit of bluffing. Sometimes it can drag on a bit long near the end though.

Fairly fun game after everyone at the table has played it numerous times. Until then, the experienced players will be a rosetta stone to translate all the cards for the new players. Player elimination is undesirable, and players often "turtle", unwilling to shoot anyone until other people start shooting. Hidden role mechanic seems like an afterthought, not as integral to the experience as in, say, Saboteur or Werewolf.

Adds some spice to the original game. Worth it just to have twice as many characters to choose from.

Enjoyable, but I don't care much for how you get half the cards in the game and your opponent gets the other half (as opposed to, say, Lost Cities where you control the card flow). It seems like you only start a flag if you can start a three of a kind or a straight flush, and the other formations only happen as a result of not having the cards to finish the stronger formations.

Very good for a non-miniatures miniatures game. The rules can be a bit of a headache, and I still have trouble with some parts. Half my reason for buying this game is because it has some clever ideas.

I'm sure I spend more time during the game arguing about how cards interact than I spend on actually playing it.

A nice simple game; the deck is composed of only one type of card. I love it just for the direct player interaction. One complaint is that I don't care for the fact that you never know who is going to win (unless you take the time to count everyone's gold).

Fun, good for 6 players. I find that trading tends to get a bit same-y; if you sold whiskey last turn, you'll probably sell it this turn as well. I don't know how the players could ever open up the largest speakeasy. I might remedy this by either giving out influence every third round or starting every player with 2 influence markers.

Can be fun with the right people. It is a guessing game most of the time, and there's not as much diplomacy in the game as I'd hoped.

A good press-your-luck game. The wait between turns is a bit boring, and presumably worse with more players.

It's a good game, but its only problem is that it isn't a great game. There are other games for 2-3 players that are more 'fun'.

Arduous for anyone playing it for the first time. When everyone knows what they're doing, it's a decent civilization-building game, but I'd rather play two games of regular Catan in the same time.

Game really starts to drag with 6 or 7 players. Each player has so little control over how the game plays out that the winner seems fairly random.
La Città (2000)

It seems that very often, you will be in a position where one of your cities is in decline, having population stolen every turn, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to counter-act it. I do like the overall theme of the game, where you are trying to manage population, food, the aspects of your city, and the needs of the people.

What can I say...it's still Clue. People tend to get the answer around the same time, and unfortunately some cards are much more powerful than others, and so luck of the draw can be crippling. It still serves well as a quick deduction game, but I'd like to see some house rules to make for some more tactical play some time.

Everyone seems to like it. There are some tough decisions, but there are some flashier games I'd rather play with 3-5 people. I think I tend to care about theme more than I let on.

Pretty fun, but horribly unbalanced against the marines. Good if you have the time and the right people to play with.

A card game that isn't quite like any other card game using a standard deck. Seems to suffer a little from the rich getting richer, but a few more plays might change my mind.

I can't think of anything bad to say about this game. Six rounds is great for regular games and nine would be fun for a longer game, there is lots of interaction, no runaway leader problems, and the end scoring is climactic. Great game!

I've come to realize CCGs aren't very fun unless you have an opponent who wants to build their own deck. Besides that, I think the game is pretty good and the "your deck is your life" mechanism is neat.

Seems to see lots of play. Some cards are much more difficult than others, though, and we always wind up giving clues partway through.

Fun! Lucky rolls can be too powerful. Too much information for a new player (all the units' abilities). Takes either lots of time or lots of space to set up the map. No real desire to play this game after being introduced to D&D 4E.

Very good when treated as a large expansion set, but it doesn't come close to matching RotV for a starter.

Nice quick auction game. There's a really nice feeling of tension on lots of the auctions, and everyone always feels like they've come out on top after an auction.

I don't like that players on the human side control more than one character in 2-4 player games, and 5-6 player games take waaaaaaaay too long. There are a ton of ambiguities in the cards and rules that make it difficult to play.

A good light wargame. My only real problem is that the tiles are so small that the game doesn't feel as "epic" as something like Risk with a big fold-out board.

Suffers especially since the same cards come into the game every time. The game seems just a bit too slow, like you're not really getting anywhere.

Very fun, makes me feel like a tycoon of some sort. My only gripe is that the end feels very anti-climactic (when you realize that one person is going to win but must play it out anyways). (Note: I now realize that money should be hidden which takes care of the calculable endgame)

I much prefer this to Runebound. The skills make each game different and give the characters more personality than stat increases. I like the graphical style.

Nice game. Lots of considerations in each decision. So far, the person who gets the most pharoahs has won every time, by a wide margin.

Good, free dice game. Better, though longer, with more players. Perhaps a bit longer than a dice game should take. Some of the events are very interesting and fun while others seem to come down to pure luck with little room for strategy.

Like werewolf, but it actually sees the table. Lots of fun! We play with a house rule for giving out gold at the end of the round. Unfortunately, there is no way to be subtle when playing path cards (anything but a straight path at the start will get you accused).

I really don't care for games where you are able to calculate how many points a certain move will be worth to you. I'd rather make decisions based on instinct. For that reason, I don't care too much for this game.

Nice components. Not much interaction, and some choices are fairly obvious. A good game where you can set short-sighted goals for yourself until the end of the game.

I dislike this game, due to a combination of always being stuck with handling cards, it being too easy to forget to score a train, and too much time spent putting plastic bits in a straight line on the board.

I have fun thinking about this game, but rarely do I have enough of the right type of people to play this game. It's often difficult to incite debate and discussion, and there is not much information in each game unless you have 9+ players involved.
