TileSystem_306.zip (1.08 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
TileSystem (version 3.0.6) itself is downloadable here.

What is TileSystem? A level/scenario/quest editor that excels at laying tiles, monsters, props, obstacles etc. And then saves your map to jpg format.

Unzip TileSystem and all the descent.zips (be sure to maintain directory/folder structure) to the same directory/folder. On startup the TileSystem will load the descent tilesets (provided you arn't using Doom or Space hulk tilesets as well) so that you can start creating your level immediately.

Descent WART Tileset v1.1 Enjoy.

It is what you have been waiting for: A tileset for TileSystem which includes Well of Darkness, Altar of Despair, Road to Legend and Tomb of Ice expansions. This is a great tool to make new quests (at least the map portion) for Descent JitD.

Since its too big (15MB) to fit on the BGG forums in a single file, I have split it up into 4 parts. Each can be unzipped separately.

TileSystem is available for download here:
http://members.cox.net/shawnriordan/tilesystem.htm
Ideally I would like the descent tileset to look as good as the doom tileset (simply wow)... but I am just not that good.

This continues the good work of rogerfcw. Your tileset has gone far.

Many thanks to Chris Brown (Acolyte Rivan) for (previously) hosting the scans. They were a great help.

If there are any missing pieces/errors/suggestions, post 'em.

Side Note: The first letter of each expansion (ignoring "the"), in order of release, spells...WART, and when Sea of Blood (SoB) comes out, it will be WARTS.

Installation notes: Unzip the zip-files (maintaining directory structure) into the TileSystem directory and play.

I'm having trouble getting the program to work properly. I have unzipped all files into the TileSet directory, including the dll's and png's. When I try to load the WART set, I get errors stating that each set doesn't exist. If I change to the tilesets, like floors, it loads but all of the tiles are gray boxes instead of images.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Would you be able to list specific steps to install it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Some unzip programs by default unzip without maintaining the directory structure inside the zip file. The directory structure has to be maintained for the program to find the files.

So inside your tileset directory you should have a descent_WART.set file and a descent_WART directory with all the png's and the rest of the .set files.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. The problem was that I was drag extracting which showed no folder structure. Once I actually clicked "Extract," it worked perfectly.

Now to start creating some quests! I also really appreciate the fact that you took the time to create this editor.

Thanks but I just bundled the tiles for Descent. The TileSystem was created by Shaun (see tile system site).

What exactly will these files allow me to do? Is it a way to print out a set of dungeon tiles like in Descent and the expansions? If so I don't need it as I already own all the expansions. Just not sure what this is and if I need it.

Thanks for any replys,

These are descent tiles used in the quest/map creator so that you can create your own quests using a simple tile-laying program.

So if you are interested in creating quests/maps for Descent (using base as well as Well of Darkness, Altar of Despair, Road to Legend and Tomb of Ice expansions) then you will want this program and tiles.

If anyone sends me nice scans/pics of the SoB components, I will gladly convert them to work with the Tile System (and make them legal for distribution).

Until then...

I just never realized that all the expansions together spell WARTS and kind of thought that was funny.

There's only two tile pieces in SoB, two tight corners (not counting the dungeon-level portal piece, which is the same as RtL's). Though I suppose the island map could be added?

Island map and all the bits (sandbars, trees, dungeon entrance etc.) Though I expect having the island map as a png file will be ludicrously large. But we shall have to see.

It may be easier to set the ocean map as the background and just place everything on it.

Not sure if this is possible as the program exists or not...

I am having the same problem. Lots of gray boxes but no image. I have unzipped the files and added them where they need to be. I do have the descent_WART.set file but am missing the descent_WART directory. Is there
a way of getting this so I can use the program?

Thanks!

Create the descent_WART directory and move all the .png's into it. It will work like magic.
