Seems to be contradiction here: for "End" it says play to "end of round when someone passes finish line" (which is correct), but then two lines later says "play on until everyone finishes race" (which is not correct IIRC).
This means that those players who crossed the finish line that round are done, with the winner being determined by the player who went furthest past the finish line. From the rulebook, "Play then continues onto the next round, and so on, until all players have finished the race" Meaning the players who crossed the finish line from the previous round are no longer part of the active race. For racing seasons, finishing places are awarded points, making it crucial to at least finish the race even if you are in last place. NO Points are awarded if your sled doesn't finish the race.
So you only keep playing if you are doing racing seasons (or just want to see who comes in 2nd, 3rd and so on)
There has been some confusion in the forums about the ending (saying players who finish in later rounds further past finish line still get considered), so just wanted to clarify.
Page 7 of the rule book: GAME END At the end of a round, all players who have crossed the finish line have finished the race. The player furthest passed the finish line wins the race and is considered first. This may differ from the player who crossed the finish line first.
I like how Larry puts it . . .

Think of it this way. Player A crosses the finish line first. Next round, no one else crosses the line. Player A unhitches his dogs from the sled. Next round, no one else crosses. Player A feeds and water his dogs and packs up. Next round player B crosses the finish line and ends 30 feet past Player A.
I totally agree and that's what I was saying. But quoting your concise reference sheet:
Quote:
End: - End of round when someone passes finishing line. - Priority player passing finishing line by furthest, then nearest to checkered flag. - Play on until everyone completes race.
That third bullet point should probably say "...if doing a racing season" or something to that effect. Otherwise it is incorrect and contradicts the first bullet point. Right?
I suppose it's open to interpretation. Even if we are not playing a season, I think it's nice to see who comes in 2nd, 3rd and so forth. In my experiences with this game there are usually two or 3 "groups" of people vying for that 3rd or 5th position. Remember this is just a reference sheet and should not be used as a substitute the to the rule book.
